Re: Music for FLL
Billy Idol's "You Spin Me Right Round" is always a good, upbeat song. ;-)

Re: Music for FLL
Another question what do people think of playing a song then later playing the remix? good/bad/indifferent?

Re: Music for FLL
its not a good idea. I used to do some djing, and some people wont care, but some will. You dont want people thinking they already heard a song. Just play a differant song.

Re: Music for FLL
As a mentor who's getting on in years, I wanted to mention that techno makes me want to die. In small bursts separated by many minutes or hours, it's tolerable, but please squelch any urge you may have to play that new 47 minute remix of Sandstorm you've been carefully crafting in your basement.
I'll edit this in a bit with a genuine list of good, fun music that's ecclectic, danceable and upbeat. Okay, so for reference, music that should be played together is listed in italics. Those with an asterisk should only be played if you're a bona fide DJ with digital turntables because there are long intros or other parts that need to vanish to keep the energy up. The Kleptones - Closer to the Boxer Rihanna - SOS Flock of Seagulls - I Ran (So Far Away)* Aqua - Cartoon Heroes (Speedy Mix) Blondie - Rapture AC/DC - Back in Black The Glenn Miller Orchestra - Sing! Sing! Sing! Thicke - When I Get You Alone Aerosmith - Walk This Way Run DMC - Walk This Way Billy Idol - White Wedding New Order - Blue Monday Kylie Minogue - I Believe In You Matthew Wilder - Break My Stride The Pointer Sisters - Neutron Dance Paul Oakenfold - Starry Eyed Surprise Rascal Flatts - Life Is A Highway Blondie - One Way or Another The B-52s - Roam (12" Remix) Rednex - Cotton Eye Joe Gnarls Barkley - Crazy Ace of Base - Cruel Summer Beyonce - Crazy in Love Oingo Boingo - Weird Science The Bangles - Walk Like An Egyptian Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger Baroque Hoedown - They Might Be Giants Billy Idol - Mony Mony Black Eyed Peas - Let's Get It Started Kaiser Chiefs - Everyday I Love You Less and Less The Beach Boys - Fun, Fun, Fun The Beach Boys - Be True To Your School Hezekiah Walker - Let's Dance (Remix) The Dixie Chicks - Sin Wagon Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out For A Hero Deniece Williams - Let's Hear It For the Boy Kenny Loggins - Footloose Smash Mouth - Walkin' on the Sun Billy Joel - Sometimes A Fantasy* Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood Grease - Summer Nights You're the One That I Want in The Next Episode (No idea where this came from, but it's fantastic) DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince - Parents Just Don't Understand Sugarhill Gang - Apache Missy Elliott - We Run This (Stick It Edit) R.E.M. - Stand Harry Belafonte - Jump in the Line Doctor and the Medics - Spirit in the Sky Ini Kamoze - Here Comes the Hotstepper Michael Jackson - Billie Jean Michael Jackson - Scream* Michael Jackson - Bad Big & Rich - Save A Horse (Ride a Cowboy) Bow Wow Wow - I Want Candy OutKast - Idlewild Blues Aly & A.J. - Walking on Sunshine Coolio - Fantastic Voyage Lakeside - Fantastic Voyage Josie and the Pussycats - Three Small Words Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body Kim Wilde - Kids in America Hoku - Perfect Day Club Nouveau - Lean on Me Lemon Jelly - Nice Weather For Ducks* Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For?* Parliament - Give Up The Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker)* Stevie Wonder - Uptight (Everything is Alright) M - Pop Muzik Brain Bug - Nightmare Animotion - Obsession Shakira f. Wyclef Jean - Hips Don't Lie M.C. Hammer - U Can't Touch This Rick Springfield - Superfreak Banya - Beethoven Virus Cooler Kids - Punk Debutante (All Around the World) Cameo - Word Up Mariah Carey - Heartbreaker Mariah Carey - Fantasy (Remix) Tom Tom Club - Genius of Love Madonna - Ray of Light No Doubt - New The Go-Go's - Head over Heels The Coasters - Yakety Yak No Doubt - Hella Good Lipps, Inc. - Funkytown Robbie Williams - Rock DJ Latyrx - Lady Don't Tek No Stevie Wonder - Sir Duke Jackson 5 - ABC B Real, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J & Method Man - Hit 'em High OutKast - Hey Ya! Re: Music for FLL
Thanks for the list, sadly I havent gotten into this enough to have purchased digital turntables but i use a program on my computer to do the same thing so long intros can suddenly disappear.

Quote:
I use software called Virtual DJ which does a reasonable job of approximating turntables and allowing beatmatching, but it's tough to do a good job with a wholly digital solution unless you've got two soundcards in your computer. Whenever I've had an opportunity to DJ, I've been able to use my software coupled with a real mixer and record decks, so I've been able to queue music on the computer while a real record plays. ![]() |
