Baltimore Area Teams Needed

I've been asked to pass on the word about an opportunity for teams in the Baltimore area to participate in a technology fair being put on by Rockwell Automation:

Rockwell Automation is hosting a big technology fair in
Baltimore this fall. They are willing to provide a 15
x 15 foot area for the local FIRST teams to put on a
dispalythat wil be seen by thousands of Rockwell
cutomers and employees.

I am looking for the contact info of teams that are interested or someone that represents several teams in that area that can spread the word. Unfortunately I don't have a location or date right now, but still let me know if you're interested. I'll either get the proper people in touch with you or get the info to you and you can contact them.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies already. The 2006 Automation Fair® event will be held October 25-26, in Baltimore, MD. The event will be staged at the Baltimore Convention Center. Those that have contacted me so far, I am passing on your emails to the organizers

If it's not too late to sign up, please include Team 1719! And then at some point all the involved teams should get together about the presentation (can we bring a robot or 2 for demonstration?, etc).

Hi Everyone,
I have been working with Rockwell Automation to coordinate the FIRST booth (thanks Kevin for the lead-please forward to me any teams contacts you've received so far) and presentations and will be contacting all local teams in the coming weeks. We will be coordinating time slots. There will be requirements for load in & load out and lots of other details.
We hope to include some FLL teams and any FVC teams forming.

Out to the local teams-

Rockwell Automation Expo

* Rockwell Automation is having a big Expo in Baltimore at the Convention Center on Wed. Oct 25 and Thursday Oct. 26. http://www.automationfair.com/
* Rockwell is a huge FIRST supporter, and wants to promote FIRST at this event. FIRST has been invited to share the Rockwell Booth and I am working closely with them to plan a FIRST presentation in the booth.
* We are looking for a few FRC teams who could showcase their robot. This is what we need:

1. We hope to be able to allow some of the attendees to drive the robot(s) in a small enclosed area. Shooting poof balls is probably not going to happen given the space.
2. Robots would need to be delivered on Tuesday Oct. 24 or BY 7 am on Wed. Oct. 25 for show on Wed. Oct. 25 or
3. Robots would need to be delivered on Wed. Oct 25 at 5:30 pm or BY 7am on Thursday Oct. 26 for show on Thursday Oct. 26.
4. Load out would be after 5:30 pm on either day.
5. Would need 2 students and one adult with each team. No more. Students need to be age 16 or older. (This is a rule for admittance to Expo hall).
6. Teamsters would have to push your robot and cart from loading dock into Expo Hall, and for load out.
7. Students would be expected to talk with the public about FIRST and about their robots.
8. No team banners or individual team promotional materials can be displayed in the booth. This venue is to promote FIRST, not your team. But there will be lots of fun companies that you can talk with while exploring the Hall and you could give out info at that time.

A tremendous thank you for the incredible volunteer effort at the Rockwell Automation Fair this week. The teams and mentors did a great job of representing FIRST. All the students will be receiving a letter from the CEO of Rockwell for their portfolio.

Rockwell Automation and thousands of attendees were impressed, and there is a flood of interest in FIRST, ranging from colleges to trade magazines to vendors donations to potential sponsors to potential teams, worldwide. Rockwell will be holding this event in Chicago next year and have already said they are interested in including FIRST.

FIRST is all about problem solving, and the teams on Thursday had to cope with massive traffic and load out challenges due to exploding manhole covers. I hope that getting the robots home was not too difficult.

I hope you all had fun. You made me proud to be a part of this organization.

There were dozens of official photos taken. John Abele and Bruce Linton attended on Thursday, as well as Keith Nosbusch, Chairman and CEO of Rockwell. I'll try to post a couple when I get them from Rockwell Automation.

Thats great to hear! I'm glad it went over so well. I hope this is jus the beginning of a new reationship between Rockwell Automation and many new teams, as well as FIRST as a whole. Thank you, Jenny, for putting this all together, and thank you teams for making it happen.
