There's still judges, refs, an emcee (who tends to also do play-by-play), field resetters, inspectors, crystal keepers (because if two robots are on the same channel, bad things happen), scorekeepers, queuers, pit admin folks, et cetera.

Those are "During the Event Positions". There also are needs setting up the venue and tearing it down and cleaning up afterwards. Depending upon how large the event is, this can absorb many workhours, and volunteer help is ALWAYS welcome! Contact the event coordinator if you want to do a specific task, or just volunteer your time. It's a foregone guarantee that there will be a position that needs to be filled.
