NEMO Meeting at the Duel on the Delaware

We will be having a gathering of all NEMOs (non-engineering mentors) at the Duel on the Delaware. This meeting will be facilitated by JudyVandy of Chuck 84 and (hopefully) Jenny Beatty, FIRST Senior Mentor-Maryland. The meeting will be both a "meet and greet" and a workshop to discuss issues, problems, etc. related to all non-engineering aspects of FIRST.

All mentors from ANY type of FIRST team is welcome to attend - that includes all of you attending the Vex scrimmage as well.

We will gather at 2:00 in front of the snack bar, which is in the main lobby as you enter the building (I'm sure everyone will have found it long before 2:00!). Join us just to say hello or to discuss issues. Please bring any handouts or information with you that you think other NEMOs can use.

Please pass this along to all the adults on the team who deal with topics like mentor recruitment and retention, fundraising, travel, teambuilding, etc.

NEMO (Non-Engineering Mentor Organization) is a support group and information exchange for those adult non-engineering mentors who help teams as part of the FIRST robotics programs. See more about NEMO at www.firstnemo.org

This is a great way for mentors to connect with one another and establish some networking. We all too often get caught up with our own teams and forget to reach out to one another to see how other teams do the same things we do. We all benefit by sharing ideas. I encourage all mentors to try and stop in at this meeting at Duel!

Any of you engineering types are welcome as well. I know I (and Rosie) have benefitted from attending NEMO workshops. We all have to deal with non technical issues now and then and some of the things that Kathy and Jenny teach are worth your time.....

I'm hoping to make it, but it depends on my students. A bunch of our veterans are taking PSATs that morning, and won't be down until the afternoon. Thus, I am left in charge of teaching our rookie students the ins and out of scouting and competition. Hopefully, though, by 2 my committee chairpersons will have arrived
