Go to Post Since our team is in possession of the school, we have no restrictions on how late we can be there. So our teams are often practicing into the wee hours of the morning. Also, the school board uses "the breeze" for storage of high jump mats, so it's a great place to nap. :) - Karthik [more]

Curriculum for FIRST Classes

Hello everyone! First of all, I know there are existing threads for this topic, which I have all read and now hold near and dear to my heart, having taken every morsel of valuable information contained within. However, some of them remain untouched since 2002 and have been long lost in the cobwebs of CD's website. I figure there are new people, new insights, and new experiences out there now, so we might as well start off fresh.

As you can see above, I'm a member of team 1124, the UberBots. Right now we're in the middle of our first attempts to get class credit for our FIRST team. Many teams have graciously helped out by sending us curriculums etc. (thank you teams 47 and 701!)

In conjunction with the principal of our school, we have determined that to receive class credit for participating on the team, members must fill out an application to be graded. If one earns a passing grade, credit will be given, if not, no credit will be given... you get the picture.

Because many of you have been through this before, I was wondering what systems you are currently using, what has and has not worked in the past, or any other suggestions or insights you may have. Here's what we're looking at so far:

-pass/fail grading system
-grades based on how much time is put in (required by school- you need a certain number of hours to receive credit for any course)
-rules tests
-how well in general one exemplifies the priciples of gracious professionalism and represents the team

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much! (You can earn maximum gracious professionalism points, complementary of team 1224.)

Thanks,
-Ellen
