Re: Robot Carts
We plan on making one also. We want to make it motorized and all we do is steer it(nice for atlanta).

Re: Robot Carts
Our team has a pretty simple cart, but it gets the job done. We made our cart from 80-20 and diamond plate. We have two tool boxes underneath of it for our tools. Have the tool boxes makes it easy to make quick fixes.

buzz
175 has a nice cart. It can hold stuff in addition to the bot. However It is heavy. Our cart is not heavy, but it can only hold batteries and the bot. But it can easily fit into a van. It's like a wagon, has a handle that you pull and steer with. Simple but it works. We got it at Lowe's and made some small modifications. |

Re: Robot Carts
The rookie year, 1293 used a little red wagon. No room for anything much, but since the robot was so ridiculously overbuilt for what it was, it didn't really matter.
In 2005 and 2006, 1293 used a yellow garden cart with the sides knocked off. Holds a robot about perfect, although there's still not much room for extra toolboxes or batteries. Some under- or over-cart storage might be in order for it. |

Re: Robot Carts
Our cart is made out of Bosh extrusions. It has held up well and allows for adjustment and modifications.

Re: Robot Carts
Our cart has Colored lights on it and it has different horns and sirens that we used in atlanta so people know a 120lb robot is bout to come through.

Re: Robot Carts
Here's a picture of our cart-http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/15172
The underglow is currently not working. It's a pretty nice setup though. The push handles can hold the robot in the air (when properly setup) to allow work on the underside of the bot, or at eye level so you don't have to bend over. It's got a stereo inside the pull out drawers, which gets extensive use during late nights in our shop ![]() The drawers are also great for bringing pretty much everything we need out onto the field with us. |

Re: Robot Carts
Here is a wagon with 4-wheel steering that would make a great robot cart platform!

Re: Robot Carts
We used to have a big cart. It was difficult to move around in tight spaces and very expensive to ship to Atlanta. We now have an "I" shaped cart made out of 2"x6" aluminum extrusions with 30" handles on each end that can be reversed to make the cart a table in the pits or folded to slip the cart into the back seat of a car. It has four heavy castors and handles easily in tight spaces. The robot sits only about 6" off the floor so it is very stable. The cart is only 28" wide so it easily fits through doors to demonstrations. It is has room for four batteries or two batteries and some tools on the ends.

Re: Robot Carts
Our cart has 4 wheel steering, which makes it real easy to get throught the crowds at the Regionals and Atlanta. We are planning to add an extruded top to make it easier to place the robot on it each year, with each design. We currently have two pieces of extrusion cross members that the robot sits on and we move their position each year. This allows the entire bottom of the machine to be up for maintenance and repairs. We never have to take the robot off the cart to make any repairs.
