Re: pic: vex suspension

what i did is i put the 1 inch standoffs(8 per wheel) bolted to the prebent metal on a 45 degree angle the i got the spacer kit from vex labs and used 2 half inch spacer(2 per standoff and sand the ends a little bit to so they roll) drilled out to fit over the standoffs then i used the rubber links cut the ends off and put a hole in the middle and stretch them over the spacers. each wheel takes about 6 hours to make and ive spent $150 to make a set of 4 im going to post them shortly with the suspension setup cuz i designed it use both the mecanums and the small wheel and made it modular 2 bolts its off

Re: pic: vex suspension

These wheels made out of Vex parts sound really neat, but I'm not entirely sure they'll be Vex competition legal. Just being made entirely out of Vex parts is not the only qualification for being Vex legal, for instance cutting metal plates into gears is considered illegal. This is not my interpretation of the rules, but the official one. As such I'm not sure if when you used rubber links and removed the screw part and drilled a hole if that is still legal. I'd say there's a good shot it's against the spirit of the rules and therefore illegal. I hope you can use them, but I'd make a post on the forum linked to above and ask specifically because it would be awful to show up at the competition and not be allowed to use them.
