I just finished my chemistry study-binge

Since Friday, I've crammed in 30 hours of relearning my whole chemistry class, which includes reading all the reading assignments, listening to podcasts of lectures and other stuff. I have this chem exam tomorrow at 3:30, and I actually feel somewhat confident about it. WOOHOO! (ya, I know it's probably not healthy or the best way to study, but the bright side is is that it's all still fresh in my mind )

Re: I just finished my chemistry study-binge

I just finished a 1 hour study binge on Chem for my final tomorrow at 8AM... I guess it would be today then... uh oh... But yeah, that's about as long as I've studied for chemistry all semester. I only need a 17% on it to get a C so I don't think I need much studying to do... but then again, I averaged pretty bad on my chem quizzes, besides the two A's that saved my grade. Good luck! Wish me luck, too!

Edit: I forgot to mention that I've spent 75+ hours on a final research argument paper about Wal-Mart for my English 101 class. 10+ different drafts and about 30 various energy drinks later, I have an essay worthy of an A.

Why would you compare studying for a rediculously long time to drinking a lot of alcohol in a very short amount of time?

The dictionary definition of binge is "a period or bout, usually brief, of excessive indulgence; spree." Yes, the term does commonly refer to drinking or eating, but that's not the only circumstance in which it can be used.

In this instance, Michael was sharing how he had been cramming for his exam. Some may call this a "studying spree," which is synonymous to a "studying binge."

Re: I just finished my chemistry study-binge

I find chem really interesting (the 1 1/2 quarters we've done), especially when we light things on fire or blow them up! Or put red-hot crucibles under a stream of water and watch them steam! I love fire... it is a great thing.

Ah yes, those were the good times. Good ol' Chemistry. I can proudly say that the Chemistry classes at my school have another one of these "fun" experiments (in this case black gunpowder) due to my constant nagging of the teacher, followed by me making the stuff during AP last year. Good stuff.

Re: I just finished my chemistry study-binge

Well, I think I did fairly well on the exam. In fact, it's still going on right now. I finished 55 minutes early There were only a couple questions on subjects I didn't study or forgot about. But out of 35 questions, a 32 or 33 isn't too bad, especially on a college final exam. (CURVES FOR THE WIN)

I had a Stat teacher calculate the curve to "normalize" the grades. How that effected me was when my 66 was normalized to a B. It was crazy for a intro level class. Most teachers I've had that 'curved' took the diffrence between the highest grade and 100 and added that to everyones score.

My chem final is on Friday, at 8am. After a week of finals with the earliest being at 1pm, Friday is going to suck.

This is the first time I've heard of that. It would have been really nice on my Fields and Waves midterm. Highest was 96, lowest was 1.

As for chem, I didn't think it was that hard. Actually, I thought it was really easy. The extent of my studying was showing up to class every day (sometimes sleeping through part of it) and doing the labs (which were required anyway). I made it out with a B.

All of my problems stem from math, I don't have any problems learning concepts though. I didn't have any problems with chem, thermodynamics, materials, or digital design. However, I barely scrape by in math classes, and have a lot of trouble with heavily math based classes (i.e. electromagnetics, physics, signal analysis).

As for studying... none of you have anything on what I just pulled. I started studying for digital design on thursday night. I got a full night's sleep and got back to it on Friday morning. I went until midnight. The test was on Saturday morning and ended around noon. I took the rest of Saturday off. Starting Sunday at around 9am, I started studying for Linear Systems. I went until 10:30pm. I couldn't find anywhere to sleep, so I had to go home to take a nap. I woke up at 3:30am and came back to school. I studied until 7, when I decided to check if the professor was in his office. I asked him some questions, then went back to studying. I took a 1 hour nap right before the test. The test ended at noon. I went home, ate lunch and took a break. I took a 3 hour nap. Now, I'm back at school (I'm eating dinner/reading CD). I need to work on Network Analysis now, test on Wednesday. My friends want to spend all day on it tomorrow, so I think I'll only go until 10ish, so I can recover and start a new sleepless study session. SLEEP IS FOR THE WEEK!!11one!

Re: I just finished my chemistry study-binge

One of the math teachers here takes the square root of your score and multiplies it by 10. You can lose points on the multiple choice section, so it's possible to get a complex number as a score. Have fun explaining that one to your parents/friends.
