They had it as a scoring object in I think 1999, it was a moving platform that you got points for being on at the end of the match.

Does anybody else see a lawn on the right side of the picture (in the blue)? Maybe it's just me, but it looks like a lawn in front of a building with a curb and a tree.

What is a diamond? It's a rhombus. Where did the word rhombus come from?

Could this mean that there are quick periods, or that the goals are in the corners such that the robots must constantly be turning around to achieve an objective?

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

sorry to post so repetitivly, but whta if the "round and around" part means that there is a central goal in the middle that robots must navigate around due to it's size (similar to the center goal in the 05' game).

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

I'm never sure whether I'm reading too much into a clue, or not enough...

My scattered thoughts so far:
-It would be quite hilarious if this were all the first in a series of countdown pictures like some people have mentioned. After all, the GDC has to top Greg for his prank on us recently.
-I wish sanddrag's clue was the actual clue, because I had far more ideas for it than for this.
-5 of something...I'm personally leaning towards a 5-sided platform or 5 "bases"' of sorts. Maybe the last bit of the match is autonomous and you have to find your way to the bases autonomously, from wherever you are on the field. Each robot could be assigned a certain color before the match, and they have to go to the base that displays their color.
-NO WATER! Please...*twitch*

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

Well, if we have determined the it is from the countdown video, might we consider the song: "The Final Countdown" by Europe.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Final_Countdown_(song)

Europe has 5 members.

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

Dear Mr. Lavery,

Congratulations. For the fourth year running (at least, in my case - I am sure that others have a few more years to add on to my tally), you have successfully ruined my Christmas holiday with your untimely release of a most obfuscating, but no less tantalizing, hint.

As I have not yet been able to find a banana in the image (which I am sure is lurking somewhere) nor have I had the time to count the individual treads on the diamond plate in the hopes of revealing some magical number, I shall field no further comments other than to say that I eagerly await a true 3v2 game.

Sincerely,

Elise

Look in the lower right corner area of the picture, I am seeing a banana. Let me adjust some of the levels in the image, and edit this post once I have enhanced it.

EDIT: Here we go. There's no doubt about it. That's a banana.

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

What if there was a tall, rotating cylinder, bolted down in the middle of the field that was seperated into five different segments that could either raise/ lower the score of the team puting in the scoring objects. ex. one segment could raise by 1 point, the next 2, the next one take off 1 point ect ect that would make some interesting stratigies for not just scoring but for controling the rotation of the goal.

The dimand plate could represtent the material used to seperate the goal, or a ramp/ platform of somekind.

Or we could all just conceede that were never going to guess this and enjoy our holiday for once without racking our brains. But knowing us that's probably not going to happen
