I can see the texture of the diamond plate through the 5, if that's what you mean.

yea the texture of the diamond plating coming through is what i ment so it could mean the five is painted on or done in a glazed or colored plexi perhaps?

Re: Serious the Real hint

Looking for "5 in a circle" on google brings up 5 Thomas Mellon Circle in San Francisco, and 5 time Silver Circle Award winner Cal Kafka from UCI, part of the department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science.

Also, does the 5 in a circle somewhat remind anyone else of the Ishihara Test for Color Blindness?

Here is an example of this test

Also last year at nationals the possiblity of color changing lights was addressed. Here is another thread discussing that topic.

http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=46942

Now to my idea. The CMUCam would make a return. The basis of the game would be somewhat like the Milwaukee VEX challenge King of the Rings. http://www.wirobotics.org/vex/2006/index.html Here is a rule manual for those that do not know what the game is all about.

As already mentions the game piece would be kid-sized pool tubes, like life preservers. This is because the clue is a zoomed in picture.

Around the field would be poles, on which the tubes are stacked on, kind of like 2005's Triple Play. This is where the camera comes into play. Near each pole is a color changing light. They change randomly between a limited amount of colors. Then the Ishihara Test for Color Blindness comes into play. Only poles with lights of a certain color can be scored. Maybe for one round red lighted poles count.

The diamonded plated circle functions like the circle in King of the Rings This is the king of the hill portion of the game. Which ever robot gets on the platform at the end of the match gets points.

The only things that I have not accounted for are
1)the number five on the diamond plated circle in the clue
2)the lights change color but there is no real targeting involved. This though could be a built in element so rookie teams can try to place rings on plates while still giving experienced teams the challenge of using the camera to perfect dropping of tubes.

So what does everyone think?

Re: Serious the Real hint

Diamond Plate and 5 Hrmmm. Well I don't forsee water game, its still out of reach for most FIRST Venues, even in an instance of a kiddy pool I really think that FIRST will out step their realm with one.

My first instinct was inflatable clowns and 5 of them beating on the robots at all times, but then I thought, thats probably not right.

But what I did think was running off the Baseball Idea. Within the diamond, you have 6 players involved. ( this does not include the outfield and the pitcher. ) You have the batter, 4 infielders and the catcher. 1 of these 6 players at all times stands at the plate, if the batter is not at the plate the game doesn't continue. Maybe this year it is a 3v3 game ( or some combination of such ) and 1 team almost be on the plate for the game to continue. That would be interesting, and I could see lots of strategy. Or maybe the home plate is a multiplier, every 15 seconds on the plate doubles a teams score.

Very interesting stuff tho, its the first time I remember we got a picture, we'll see I'm sure there will be some more accurate and more clever guesses than mine in this thread.

What would the human player do, stand at the plate, or what?

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

Here's what i am thinking, since a water game could present expensive problems, what if FIRST decided to use a gamefield wall made out of some sort of light distorting material, kind of like a funhouse mirror. When you look thru it you would see what would resemble looking into water; a distorted, wavy image. This would hinge on the game being water based and this is just a guess, looks like we will find out come Saturday

Re: Serious the Real hint

So the only clues I see that work perfectly together are the new pictures of a banana being hidden in the picture, the 5, and this one.

Now bananas squish and squash, and they are grow up high in trees (rise), and then you wash them before they go to market. Bananas can be picked in different numbers, but a bunch of 5 bananas is not an uncommon thing.

IF sanddrag saw an actual clue, and the banana is really what we think it is in that picture.... then my offical guess is that we will have to stack or unstack a game piece (I am guessing intertubes) from up high, that is in groups of 5.

As for the word wash, it could mean many things like To cause to undergo a swirling action, To flow over, against, or past, or An activity, action, or enterprise that yields neither marked gain nor marked loss. Either of these definitions could make for some interesting game play. Now if it is not the definition of the word it would be the action. As I said, you wash bananas before you go to market, the market could be a high up goal.
