Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

This thread is getting very long and so I haven't read it all but.... Has anyone given thought that there might be 5 discs arranged across the center of the field? Each disc might be free rotating or worse yet under the control of the human players (One under control of a randomizing computer). The object would be to move game pieces from the opponent’s side to your side or maybe vice-versa?

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

I like the way this combines all the elements of the picture.

It stems from the 5 of diamonds idea

Maybe its not the five of diamonds like our regular cards, because, why is it in a circle of diamond plate? It's the tarot version. The tarot version of diamonds is pentacles and discs. Its not a circle with diamonds on it, its the pentacle/disk in tarot cards. The five of discs.

The five of discs is allways pictured as a cripple outside of a church or biulding in need of help. It represents a lack of material, misfortune, or bieng handicapped in some way. It also means bieng outside where you wish to be, and bieng in need of a support group to accomplish your goals.

One of the team members is disabled/crippled in some way and the other two team members must help them get somewhere/accomplish the task?

To far fetched? What do you think?

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

Does no on remember how first likes to layer their hints? So on i go with this...

There was diamond plate in the hint.
There is a musical artist by the name of neil diamond.
Neil diamond has a song called solitary man.
it is festured on his greatest hits album.
there are two prominent sports where you hit others. [something that happens on the FIRST field by pure accident]
Football and hockey. football has 5 lineman that block. hockey has 5 skaters on the ice.
since there isnt anything round in football, this leaves hockey.
hockey has a puck AND is played on frozen WATER.

Theres going to a lone bot of somesort, doing something with a puck. Or the game is just going to be called "Thin Ice" and every move will have to be real delicate.

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

I would just like to throw out there, that 5 teams would be very difficult to work with. The alliances would be unequal, and if one were to be switching back and fourth between alliances, it would be difficult to determine if they won or lost. After all, FIRST has always worked with even alliances = even number of teams on the field = not possible for 5 teams. As well, last years hint included something about the number of robots, so I'm assuming they would not be using the same clue again. They want to mess with our brains...it's as simple as that. sorry if this has already been said, I woke up under an hour ago..but this is just my 2 cents

Re: I believe I figured out part of the clue.

I think everyone needs to calm down a little bit. Go a little easier on the people making new threads; Sure it's annoying, but is it really the end of the world? Also, at least contribute to the discussion with your post; Otherwise, isn't that just as much a waste as the original post?

//End Rant

I like this idea. Maybe the robots are "color blind" and can only score in certain colored goals that are lit in a changing fashion like we all saw at championships.

Maybe the goals change from blue to red and at the time of score, the points go to the color it is lit. That would make for some interesting gameplay.

Re: I believe I figured out part of the clue.

I think I'm onto something but don't hold me to it. If you google search 5 in a "Diamond plate" circle one of the links is Diamond Plate Specialties. When you go to the online line store of Diamond Plate Specialties and click on Standard Products, then count to the fifth item that has the picture saying Diamond Plate Specialties, it is a vertical tissue box cover that is 5" x 5" x 6 1/4" tall with a hole at the top of it, and it is made entirely of diamond plate. So I'm thinking that this might be something but I'm not sure.

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

I'm beginning to think that the picture is something random they came up with and is not intentionally linked to the game. They're getting amused by us come up with random ideas on what the game is. They know that once the game is revealled, someone will somehow find some random link, which will amuse them even more.

Oh well, let the random guesses continue...

Hey guys its me again, I was screwing around with the clue in photo shop, and this is what I came up with. To the right of the plate there is something that looks like a face, with what to me looks like a set of pit crew head phones on. My father then looked at the pic and said that the plate almost looks like a number plate from a racing vehicle.

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

Imagine all the angry, disgruntled, tired folk to appear and protest after Woodie, Dave, and Dean tell all of us, during the kick off that the clue wasn't really a clue, but a ploy to please us for a short amount of time, for lack of a real clue. Maybe every clue they thought of was just tooo easy to figure out. .. i'm so tired! I'm giving up for a few days, and come back to it later. I just hope the game is as exciting, fast-paced, and lovable as my past two years of FIRST experience. I'm sure it will be

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

WIth all these different game ideas the one that appeals to me the most is the hockey game. Imagine 6 robots chasing around a circular object on a slipery surface. there could even be five "pucks". I would love a game like that.

"and team (insert team number here) passes to its team mate team (insert another team number here), one times it, scores!!!
