hmmm possible robot dimensions?

Out of curiosity i was scanning the crate section of the rules and it states that the tallest a crate can be is 5'10" minus the 4 by 4 under the crate. so thats 5'5" of height after building it possibly less. could this lead to 5' robots again?

They've had to start under 60" for the past three years--it was just that you could unfold to higher heighs in years other than 2006.

Robots have really been that size for the past couple years. The restriction last year required teams not to extend part of their robot past the height limit to prevent mechanisms that would drive up the ramp and just position a dumper right infront of the center goal.

I knew about the past few years as this is my 4th year of first but i thought they might change it this year.

i guess it's concieveable that they will change it, but i don't think the crate size is any legitimate indicator of any impending changes. The only way to find out is to wait until the 6th ^.^

11.2.1 · Crate Specifications

All Crates must:
Weigh 400 pounds or less in order to avoid drayage overage charges
Be sturdily built to prevent damage to your equipment
"Sit" on 2 pieces of 4" by 4" lumber, spaced at least 28" apart so it can be moved by a forklift
Have a footprint no greater than 4' by 4' and be no taller than 5'10" (70") high. This maximum includes the 4" by 4" lumber mentioned above.
New - Be capable of being moved by a forklift
New - Must be banded or shrink-wrapped

In the last few years the only change in envelope was from 30x36x60 to 28x38x60.

I've given up on the smaller lighter robot push I've had for the last few years because everyone else seems to disagree.

• Be capable of being moved by a forklift
