Go to Post Engineering is a big, big type of fishing to teach. Inspiring kids to study it in college might be more practical. - connor.worley [more]

Re: Hours spent so far....

Similarly to Zoheb. Our team (118) meets for kickoff at UHCL and than we got to know each other afterwards for a few hours. Than sunday we spent 5 hours on functions of the bot and I have done about 6 hours of work researching designs + parts we can use and around 3-4 hours (cause i couldn't sleep) on the website....

Pavan.

Re: Hours spent so far....

Kickoff started at 9:00 AM, BAE showed a video to our team then they watched the feed. Go back to the high school and discuss until 6:00 PM. Following day start at 12:00 end at 6:00 PM. Last night we were at the school until 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

That would be a total of 18 hours (assuming kickoff ended at 12:00, I wasn't paying attention to the time at that point).

In the first couple of weeks we spend 6 hours on Sundays 3 hours on weekdays and 9 hours on Saturdays. That's 30 hours a week. The days get longer towards the end of build season.

Re: Hours spent so far....

The team officially met:
Sat. 3pm-6pm
Monday. 6pm-9pm

I've spent:
Sat. 2 hours to record kickoff + 3 hours @ meeting.
Sunday. Worked 4-5 hours trying to get that camera to work!
Monday 3 hours @ meeting(working on the camera + 1-2 hours @ home (working on the camera).

~15 hours since kickoff.

Two hours?!?!? What luxury!!

Trust me, eventually you'll get used to it. If we didn't get used to not having enough time to get everything done, we'd all be dead by now.

Re: Hours spent so far....

Don't let the robotics part of your life take over the school part of your life. I don't want to see all of you fail classes over the robotics program. It is great to do all this work but just don't over do it.

Re: Hours spent so far....

Today we had a meeting from 2:10-5:30. We wrapped up the CAD design and went through the KOP more extensively, assembled the gearboxes (and only stripped one bolt ), got to work on the control board, and sent in some CAD drawings to be CNC'ed.

Tomorrow we are meeting at 3:04, aka after school, I also have to order parts during school tomorrow. Order gearboxes and CIMs, talk to the CNC guy, etc.
