Looking for a team...

My friend from Pennsylvania wants to join a first team and I was wondering if there was any teams out of or around East Stroudsburg Pennsylvainia?

The closest teams are 1143 in Clarks Summit and 1634 in Weatherly, but they're both 50 miles away.

Team 11 is stationed in Flanders NJ, but again that's 40 miles away and they'd have to cross stat lines to get back and forth. (Normally crossing state lines wouldn't be that big a deal, but there's a toll every time you want to get out of jersey. You can get in for free, you just have to pay to leave.)

There used to be a team in Schuylkill County that would of most likely been the closest in state. I do not see them on the list this year. I will look, and update the post if I find anything.

Volunteering at the not to far away Philadelphia Regional would be a great experience, too

I'm going to second what Ashley said. If you can't be on a team (time, location reasons) then volunteering is such an experience. You get all the fun of a FIRST competition without the worry of how your team is doing in the standing. Plus Philly is quickly becoming my new favorite regional (although Jersey will always hold a special place in my heart.)

FIRST has a nice feature at the top of each of its pages on the new website - What's Going On in My Area? You can click on that, choose the location you are interested in, then select All (for all FIRST programs) or the program you are inquiring about. It will list any events occurring in that area. In the case of FRC, it also has the link to Who are the teams from this state? In the case of the other programs, it will provide a link to someone you can contact about that program's event if there is one being held.
