We know what we're aiming to do, we're halfway done designing everything, and we've got a kitbot drivetrain for the programmers (almost? I dunno, I'm not working on that) built.

Re: How Far along is your team in the 2007 build season?

We haven't began building anything yet except for a partial field 'spider' mock up. We know what we're doing for the base and drivetrain and parts are on order. We have a mock up on how we're going to be picking up the tubes and getting that idea fully sorted out is what we're working on now.

Re: How Far along is your team in the 2007 build season?

I got a lego mock up done for one design option for our team, there is a pic of it on CD. We should have our finalized plans ethier tomorrow or tuesday, and then we cut right to building our chassis for programmers and the main arm gripper. Things are going much better than before.

We are still in the prototyping stage. This year we are taking the shotgun approach: breaking up into small groups to test out every idea we can think of.

Re: How Far along is your team in the 2007 build season?

We haven't built anything but a 1/8 portion of the rack. The design is done, and 85% of the parts are ordered, as well as aluminum and other materials. This week we will start machining our chassis and try to get that together ASAP, then test it out and get it moving. Then we will start building our manipulators and get those moving.

If everything works out perfectly, without any set-backs in time, we should have at least 1 week left for whole robot testing...but this is FIRST so that probably won't happen.

Re: How Far along is your team in the 2007 build season?

We're prototyping right now. We have our designs mostly finalized (although I get the feeling that some will definitely change before we're done!) and now we're trying them out to see how well they work. I'm on the Advertising, Animation, & Design subteam, so I've mostly been working on brochure and t-shirt designs (I'm useless at animation, so I leave that to others!) and helping the mechanical team prototype in my spare time.

Re: How Far along is your team in the 2007 build season?

Our team has some designs down but because we are such a small team, we have to do each part of th erobot one at a time. But we've begun building the chassis and we have a design down for our delivery system. There's nothing really outside of that.

Re: How Far along is your team in the 2007 build season?

Lets see...Field element (Spider) is 95% done, will be completed when we meet to work on it in about 45 minutes. As for the robot, the chasis is assembled and we have ordered all of the drive system components we needed this morning. We will be ordered the manipulator components in a few days to hopefully have everything assembled Sunday night. (hopefully...).

Re: How Far along is your team in the 2007 build season?

I had a huge McMaster order and other parts that were supposed to be delivered to the school. But the school asked FedEx and UPS to not deliver on friday - monday due to us having no school. They didnt bother to tell me that. So I had meetings planned for all 4 days, but no parts. So we worked on other stuff but dont have to much to show off right now.

Re: How Far along is your team in the 2007 build season?

We have built our competition chassis and drivetrain. We're done with about 3/4 of our design and have began building part of the robot. The programers have an idea for autonomous and hvea started work on that. We've gotten materials for the rack, and by about friday or so we should have about 1/4 of our competition robot completed...

Re: How Far along is your team in the 2007 build season?

Our team has finished the drivetrain, the ramp and all the electronics/pnuematics. We built the basic frame portion of our arm which is only the beginning of what should take us about a week to do, since its all designed already.
Then we will work on fine tuning with better, more efficient, parts. Add on bumpers, make the controller, and powder coat. That's another week right there.
And finally, drivers practicing, practicing, and practicing. We need our last week to have parents and the community come, pack our crate, and other materials that we need since we have to travel so far from Hawaii.

Hmm...we are about a week into build season. =)

We got a piece of the field built and designs up. But other than that, lips are sealed
