Labview cant find the camera

Allright I have been searching the forums for over an hour now and I still cant find the answer to this question so, as much as I hate to do it I will start another thread.

I installed labview 8.2 and the VISA drivers. I also downloaded the cmu camera app and overwrote the file i needed to to make it the most current version. I also set the baud rate for com1 to 115200 like the documentation said. I attached the powered up camera to the serial port of my computer and after setting the cmu app to use com1 i ran it and it errors saying that it cannot connect to the camera.

any ideas?
EDIT: i found the error to our problem here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=41864 it was just recently added. The problem is that you cannot have both the serial port and the ttl port plugged into the camera at the same time

Heh, yeah, that is a stinker. It would be really sweet if the CMUCam2 could communicate out of both ports at the same time, but that is probably asking too much for what we pay for it.

OK I found last year's labview code, but can't find this years....

The link to the NI site just seemed to have the scope code...

Can you provide a link to the LV Cam application?

There is no new code for this year regarding the camera. The software written last year should work fine. If it does not, please let me know.

Okay, I've loaded LabView 8.2 on and have tried using the labview camera software that was written last year, but I have no luck.

The connections are all solid and correct. We had the camera working with labview last year (although the serial link crashed every 2 minutes), but we can't get it to work again.

What is NI Visa? Do I have to install it? And what options do I select when installing it? Do I have to install any of the drivers that came on one of the 4 included cds?

Any help is much apperciated

I want you to know that I'm not trying to put anyone down, but as a life lesson the first thing you should note when going to a forum or website or whatever for help is that you must NEVER just say, "I've tried to make it work, but I just have no luck getting it to work - please tell me how to make it work." Whoever is on the opposite side is then required to ask you what steps you've taken, what errors you may be getting, what is the behavior of what you're working with, and so on. So, to make the most of your experience and to get your problem resolved in the minimum amount of time you should:

1. Read every recent post (and by recent I mean those at least 60 days or newer for a forum such as this) with a subject line relating to your problem topic.
2. If you still do not find anything of use, then post a new question.
3. In that question, you must give as much information as you are able. This includes behavior, errors, messages, setup, etc... in order to help expedite your problem or help the people correctly determine your problem. Remember, many different potential problems look alike to some degree, giving enough information to help weed them down to yours can be of great help!

This file is included with the CMUCam2 application, and contains important setup and usage information (as well as software requirements).

EDIT: When installing NI-VISA, just go with the defaults. Fortunately you don't need to install anything else unless you're using a National Instruments DAQ device!
