Exclamation Please help us

I'm on team 2164, the guys with the awesome PVC Rack. While we do excel at rack making, we are terrible at programming. We know very little about programming. The only one that knows anything about programming is me, and I'm am just starting to learn C/C++ in my spare time. We have the default code, but it is just full forward and full reverse. If anyone could give us a hand, teach us and helps outs, that would be great. If you need to send me an e-mail my address is jordanachap@gmail.com.

Thanks,
Team 2164 - The Harrisonville Robotics Corps

Re: Please help us

You might consider using EasyC this year, just to learn basic C syntax, and then during the off-season, really delve into what C has to offer.

I am thinking of in my spare time (HAHA....what's that...?) writing up a few C tutorials. They won't be completed (or even started) for quite a while, so don't hold your breath. (anyone willing to help, or if someone has already created a resource like this, let me know)

FIRST/intelitek gave each team a license of easyC for this year. Your mentor should've gotten the license key, and after downloading it from the intelitek website (the link is on the disc they gave us in the kit of parts; I can get the URL for you if you need it). It is much more of a LEGO Mindstorms-type language.

We will help you out with C if you really feel like taking it on.

Let us know how you want to proceed.

Re: Please help us

We have the EasyC software, but we are having problems getting more control of the robot. We basically have the default code, which gives us full forward and full reverse.

Re: Please help us

Sounds like you need a tutorial.

See this post: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...79&postcount=3

It has a link to what seems like a pretty good tutorial.

Good luck,
JBot

Re: Please help us

You should also go through the tutorial in the help file. It will take you step by step from basic driving to more advanced features. After you do that check this out.

Re: Please help us

Work through the tutorials and check out the white papers in CD-Media (I found these by searching for "programming"):

CD-Media "programming"

If you're still having a hard time getting code to run, you might try contacting teams in your area (KC) for some one-on-one mentoring. For instance, team 1775 (lincobotics.com) made it to the finals in the midwest regional. They've indicated that they are willing to mentor:

FRC1775

Perhaps you can invite them (and other KC teams) to check out the rack and share some insight.

You're welcome to work with us in California, but I suspect that might be a bit difficult...

Re: Please help us

One of my team's mentors, Chuck, made some tutorials a few years ago and they have been added to our team website. They helped me go from visual basic to C/C++. I hope they help...
