How far are you on your robot?
How far is your team on schedule? Ahead, behind, right on track? My team, Team 250 is right about on schedule, but are facing minor setbacks here & there. but when things start to get down to the wire in the last week, it seems that we are always behind. Is this the same with everybody else? Is your robot being built according to plan, or have you had to make major or minor changes? |

Re: How far are you on your robot?
We're a little behind schedule from where we want to be but that is in comparison to the last couple of years where we completed two robots, which I think we'll still do. It's just taking a little longer.

Re: How far are you on your robot?
Due to the ice storm of the century in my area (may not be hyperbole, according to some meteorologists and/or mentors living here for decades), we lost a week of build season. However, everything else is going completely smoothly and are actually catching back up to schedule. There's hope for us yet!

Re: How far are you on your robot?
Our robot almost looks like a sailboat.
Which is to say, we're making fair progress. |

Re: How far are you on your robot?
Team 288 RoboDawgs is about 1 week behind. Some of our parts we sent out to be formed came in late. Also, this year we are building two units instead of one. We work each weekday from 4:30 to 9:00 and on Saturday when needed (like this Saturday)

Re: How far are you on your robot?
Because we have failed to set many deadlines or due dates, (which is ironic because the robot's name will be "Deadline") I have no idea where we are versus where we would like to be.
I think we should be done with the robot in about four to five weeks-wait-no, that won't be happening. At least I can say we have a chassis and bits and pieces of an arm. It'll all come together though... somehow. |

Re: How far are you on your robot?
This year the team is pretty much a rookie team. Myself and all the other senior members graduated last year, and this is the most behind i have ever seen us including our rookie year.

Re: How far are you on your robot?
We here on SparX are a little under a week behind schedule and about 10-20 lbs overweight...better get out that treadmill for the bot.

Re: How far are you on your robot?
Compared to last year we are WAY ahead of schedule. It's a wonderful feeling. We had a driving chassis earlier this week, but the Banebots transmissions have been giving us a bit of grief (Who hasn't been getting grief from those transmissions?). So we had to fix those today.
Out of the years I've been on the team we haven't had much time for any software integration after the robot was done built. 2005 we finished the bot, stuffed it in the crate and that was it. The integration took place at our first competition. 2006 we finished the bot and attempted to got some software integration done, but the electrical box had some problems. Some victors were broken and the fact that it was a box made the matter far worse. It was a pain to get your hands in and out, let alone a screw driver to replace that victor. So... last year was the preparation for a major step in this team. So many things went wrong and we learned so much. We changed the design process, we have a good schedule that everyone knows about, we strayed away from having an electrical box. Now it's all nice, neat and easy to see. You really can't have a bad year. The only way you can is to come out of it and not learn anything. |

Re: How far are you on your robot?
we are merely on schedule. this is still a big acomplishment though, because this year we set aside an unprecidented 2 weeks at the end for programing/practice. the last time we even had a week of spare time was 4 years ago, so scheduling for 2 weeks of time, and looking like we will make it is pretty nice.
