2007 Teamless People Going?

I found an old thread (2005) started by Wetzel with this title, but nothing has been posted for this year.

I'm very interested in going to the competition and volunteering (robot inspector or VEX crystal management). As such, I'm trying to figure out the most cost effective way to get there (i.e., which airline from LAX?) and stay there. If you are in a similar situation and want to split the cost of a room, post a message here.

Personally, I prefer rooming with another female.

indieFan

P.S.- I'm hoping the responses to this message will occur within the next week or so. Otherwise, I'll be using Priceline, Travelocity, Orbitz, etc. after the week is up since the prices tend to go up the closer one gets to the date. (And, I'm not crazy enough to use the "name your own price" feature of Priceline since I don't know the various areas of Atlanta.)

Re: 2007 Teamless People Going?

I too would like to go to some competition this year. Sadly I missed the local one here but I have Champs in Big A penciled in.
As for how am I going... well I'm friends with some folks that own a local poultry company and they run down to Big A to pick up a load of chickens three times a week. Guess I drive their truck down and while the truck is being loaded catch a ride to the dome and check things out for a few hours.
Got to be better than hanging around the loading dock.

Re: 2007 Teamless People Going?

I'm thinking about going to Atlanta again this year. It was a great experience last year. I would highly recomend it to all.

I would be interested in splitting a hotel room too if people are interested...

I anticipate both going and being teamless (unless, of course, a series of near-miraculous events happen). I'm definitely open for room-splitting.

Re: 2007 Teamless People Going?

Ok, a few questions that might make it easier for people who are looking for roommates:

1. What are the dates you plan to stay overnight? (I'm looking at the possibility of an overnight flight.)

2. What is the price range per night that you are looking to spend?

3. Do you have a preference of what gender the roommate is?

4. What is the maximum number of people you are willing to room with?

Re: 2007 Teamless People Going?

Good idea.

1. What are the dates you plan to stay overnight? Wednesday night through Friday night for sure. Historically, I've driven back to Columbia after awards, but I may be able to be convinced about staying Saturday night.

2. What is the price range per night that you are looking to spend? After being split however many ways, $30 a night tops.

3. Do you have a preference of what gender the roommate is? I don't care one way or the other.

4. What is the maximum number of people you are willing to room with? So long as I can get a decent night's sleep, either in a bed or on a comfortable piece of floor, I have no limit. (Practically, I'd say no more than three or four roommates, but that may change given the room and circumstances.)

Re: 2007 Teamless People Going?

I am planning to go to Atlanta, hopefully not teamless but there are certainly no guarantees.

1. What are the dates you plan to stay overnight? Wednesday through Saturday unless one of the RI teams(or Capital Region teams) qualify and are leaving after awards.

2. What is the price range per night that you are looking to spend? Cheaper is better, I will stick with Billfred's $30 but it is flexible.

3. Do you have a preference of what gender the roommate is? Doesn't Matter

4. What is the maximum number of people you are willing to room with? Not Particularly concerned. I Have had 6 people in my dorm before for a couple of days so as long as it doesn't get worse than that.

Re: 2007 Teamless People Going?

Not sure if there are still people that are looking to room share but I just got cleared for skipping class to go to Atlanta and can't really afford to go unless I share the room with someone.

1. What are the dates you plan to stay overnight? Wednesday night through Sunday morning

2. What is the price range per night that you are looking to spend? $30 a night seems reasonable but I am a little flexable

3. Do you have a preference of what gender the roommate is? Doesn't Matter

4. What is the maximum number of people you are willing to room with? Really as long as I have enough room to sleep I don't care.

Re: 2007 Teamless People Going?

a nice way my team found to save money was to try and get a hotel near the airport, then take the public transportation (it has a name, i just dont know it) to the competition, this saved us a bunch of money on hotel rooms, and it's nice when you have early/late flights to catch

Re: 2007 Teamless People Going?

If anyone is still looking PM me.

1. What are the dates you plan to stay overnight? Thurs, Fri, Sat

Driving in from Philly Thur, driving back Fri. Anyone interested in ride too, ask.

2. What is the price range per night that you are looking to spend? No preference

3. Do you have a preference of what gender the roommate is? Does not matter, my bf and I need a place to sleep and plug the segway in at night.

4. What is the maximum number of people you are willing to room with?
I really don't care who sleeps on the floor, just so its not me! Meaning, any number of people. I remember the days of people sleeping in the rooms chairs and tub.
