Re: How far are you on your robot?

Our robot is finished (1st phase), ready to test. However, the fine tuning, programming, calibrations, etc. take a lot of time. AND, our drivers are terrible at the moment (new this year). Cant emphasize enough that driving is a KEY part of prepping during the 6 weeks. Robots, IMO, should be done at the latest after 5 weeks.
To ensure this, we spent many weeks prior getting things ready rather than waiting until kickoff. Veteran teams do this and/or have materials ready.
I understand that not every team can do this, like US. But there is a lot of things that teams should and can do to not waste unnecessary time.

Re: How far are you on your robot?

We are currently doing fine and hope to be completely (mechanically) finished by next weekend. After that we can program, wire, and test it.

Re: How far are you on your robot?

Eh, we're currently about 2-3 good days behind, but we should catch up Saturday with luck. Designs for the ramp and manipulator are nearly completely hashed out- just final dimensioning and fabrication/welding, and the electrical/pneumatics are done, organized, and troubleshot for the most part. Drive base is up and running like a champ, and if we can get back onto schedule shortly, we should have a little over a week for programming, troubleshooting, practice, and dare I say...powder coating?

We are definitely more organized this year than we have ever been, in 9 years.

Hope everybody can stay sane for the home stretch!
