Problem with Inventor 11 Dynamic Sim Tutorial?

So, since we got most of our major parts for our bot designed I thought I might work a little with the simulation of inventor since I had not had the chance to for the past 2 years that I have been in first.

I have used Inventor tutorials since I first started using it, in fact its been the only teacher I have had in using it. So I like to say I was self educated in Autodesk .

Anyway in the Dynamic Simulation tutorial I get to the point that I am creating joints on the shaft thingy (Dont have the exact names off the top of my head atm.) then animating it for 10 seconds. The Gate itself swings fine but the shaft and the connection for the gate to the shaft just flies off into space because its not jointed to the gate itself.

I have tried fixing this and done the tutorial several times up to this point and get the same result of it flying off into space for the duration of the simulation.

Anyone else have/had this problem and know a fix for it?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Problem with Inventor 11 Dynamic Sim Tutorial?

If all you want to do is animate your bot the Inventor Studio is a much easier route. There are a couple of tutorials on this in the Help.

I will be out of town for the next week. If you haven't found the answer to your Dynamic Simulation problem I will run through the tutorial again myself when I get back to try to identify the problem.
If you can get on http://engineersrule.org (simply request a guest registration if your school isn't listed) there is different tutorial there on Dynamic Simulation that is easier to follow.

Are you using the Help tutorial or the tutorial in the Getting Started manual?

The one that asks if I want to run it whenever you open up the dynamic sim.

I don't remember having any problems with that one, but I'll look at it again tomorrow.

Re: Problem with Inventor 11 Dynamic Sim Tutorial?

That didn't happen to me when I followed the first few parts of the tutorial. I don't know why it would happen...but make sure that you're using the original gate.iam file that came with Inventor and not a modified version of it.
