It's a coaxial swerve drive (search CDmedia for pictures). Essentially, the one gearbox powers all 4 wheels, and separate motors turn the swerve modules (in pairs of two)

well, judging by the pictures, it looks like there is only space for one more motor to turn the wheels.. this makes me wonder what would have been your choice seeing as you have a minibike motor powering the arm... hmm..

holy...

crap...

Congratulations on this amazing achievement, and with almost 3 weeks to spare as well! I'm actually kind of glad that you aren't attending our regional this year, you'd smoke us just like you did in '05 with chainzilla. I do hope to see this thing up close at championships.

Spectacular work guys!

There are 16 batteries with 8 on top and 8 under so they were pushing around 200 pounds!

Very impressive. Good luck, and in the event that we both reach nationals and are placed in the same division, I hope that we do not get matched against you

P.S. - If I'm not mistaken, one of your adult mentors, Rob Burridge, used to be one of our mentors before moving to work for NASA.

Re: Team 118 Robonauts - Unvieled

wait a second.. im not so sure how this thing is working..

I mean, think about it...
It has 6 motors powering the wheels
coaxial swerve drive (requiring 2 motors)
a turret (requiring one motor)
and a telescoping arm (requiring another motor)

thats a total of 10

hmm, theres something either against the rules here, or even more amazing than we origionally thought!

What's against the rules about using 10 motors?
