IFI wheels

I saw on a post 9/30/06 that the use of IFI wheels was prohibited I would like to clarify this as my team has just purchased a set of 4 wheels from IFI and if they are prohibited are all IFI wheels or are just some of them.

Re: IFI wheels

IFI wheels are perfectly legal as long as they were purchased after kickoff. What post did you see?

Re: IFI wheels

Where was this post and who made it? The only IFI wheels that may be considered illegal are ones purchased last year (since the version 1 IFI wheel is no longer sold, and therefor, no longer a COTS item). All wheels purchased this year should be fine.

Re: IFI wheels

According to my reading of Team Update 2 and specifically it's updates to R28, a previous version of IFI's wheels would be legal as long as they have not been modified in any way.

Did I read this wrong?

Nope, you're right on. I'm going to yell this super-loud, in the hope that people will stop spreading misinformation:

IF SOMETHING IS NO LONGER SOLD, BUT USED TO BE COTS, IT IS LEGAL SO LONG AS IT IS UNMODIFIED.

This has been the case for weeks now. So, as long as your IFI v1.0 wheels are unmodified, and have been assembled since this year's kickoff, they are perfectly legal.
