Exclamation Michigan Teams: Conflict with MME and Regionals

All Michigan Teams:

We just received a letter from the school with the dates of the new Michigan Merit Exam (MME) and the make-ups. The dates conflict with the Midwest Regional (Chicago) and the West Michigan Regional.

The main testing days are March 13-15, the 13th being for the ACT+Writing (for us, only the Juniors are going that day). The Midwest Regional is on March 15-17.

The make-up days for the MME are 2 weeks after, March 27-29. The West Michigan Regional is March 29-31.

For both of these, the Thursday of the regional is conflicting. I don't know if you must make up certain portions on certain days (most likely yes).

In general, rules about this sort of thing tend to be pretty stringent.

Hopefully, this helps other teams in planning ahead.

Re: Michigan Teams: Conflict with MME and Regionals

It is also more importantly during the Detroit Regional, though it won't kill most teams if their Juniors miss thursday of Detroit.

But it screws up travel plans, if you're traveling to a regional.

The complete list of regionals on the first date (March 15, 3rd week):
  • Boilermaker Regional (West Lafayette, IN)
  • Chesapeake Regional (Annapolis, MD)
  • Detroit Regional (Detroit, MI)
  • Greater Kansas City Regional (Kansas City, MO)
  • Midwest Regional (Chicago, IL)
  • Peachtree Regional (Duluth, GA)
  • Silicon Valley Regional (San Jose, CA)
  • UTC Connecticut Regional (Hartford, CT)

The list of regionals on the second date (March 29, 5th week):
  • GM/Technion Israel Regional (Tel Aviv, TA)--It could happen
  • Colorado Regional (Denver, CO)
  • Greater Toronto Regional (Mississauga, ON)
  • Las Vegas Regional (Las Vegas, NV)
  • Lone Star Regional (Houston, TX)
  • Palmetto Regional (Columbia, SC)
  • Philadelphia Regional (Philadelphia, PA)
  • Sacramento Regional (Davis, CA)
  • SBPLI Long Island Regional (Hempstead, NY)
  • West Michigan Regional (Allendale, MI)

Any Michigan team attending a regional in either of these lists need to plan around this. I doubt that the schools can be flexible about it.
