Camera Video out

Hi Everybody,
I was just looking at the diagram of the camera and all of its outputs (http://kevin.org/frc/camera/first_cm...revision_a.jpg) and i saw the Video out header in the top left corner. Can you hook this up to an RCA cable and hook it up into a TV? If not, what can it be used for?
Thanks

Re: Camera Video out

Does anyone know if the video out header shows the full field of view that the camera sees?

I've a number of about a 60* field of view floating around, and the camera seems to have a roughly 2:1 aspect ratio, but the video we get on our TV isn't black barred or black boxed or whatever it's called (like when you watch a DVD on a regular TV).

Re: Camera Video out

Note that the output from that connector does not include color. It's a simple black & white video signal.

So the video is the whole image that the sensor picks up, upsampled to 640x480?

I'm not sure that 'upsampled to 640x480' is as correct as "converted to NTSC". Depending what camera module you have, you either get an NTSC signal or a PAL signal, and since they are strictly analog they don't really have pixels.

It's a close approximation to NTSC or PAL, anyway. And its modulation is digital enough to make talking about pixels reasonable.

Re: Camera Video out

And after all this, the answer to the question itself is what?

Thanks in advance,
