Help Getting rid of Spyware/Windows XP help

So here's my problem...my sister was messing around on my computer, and now I have a plethora of spyware on my computer.

In windows XP, how do I revert it to say Wednesday's settings before the spyware was downloaded?

Or if that won't work, anyone have any suggestions as to software to get the spyware out? My appreciation is guaranteed.

My list of Spybot-battling software

Spybot search and destroy
Adaware
Spyware blaster
AVG Free edition
Prevx

Running at least 3 of these programs should clear up spyware problems fairly painlessly.

Re: Help Getting rid of Spyware/Windows XP help

The computer should have "restore points", which are periods that the computer reverts to an original setting, similar to the Undo command on Windows applications.
Read about it at Microsoft's official website: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...emrestore.mspx

Crap Cleaner is a not only a very well named program, but works great as well.

*edit: Looks like someone renamed the software to be more PC. Lame. lol

Re: Help Getting rid of Spyware/Windows XP help

I use a CoreRESTORE.

Too late for that too work in your case though. In the future, however, this is exactly what you would want.

Re: Help Getting rid of Spyware/Windows XP help

I think one key part of the solution hasn't been posted here: set a password on your screen saver, and make sure it cuts in!

After running a computer lab for 240 people (not all at the same time), I've learned that an ounce of prevention beats a pound and a half of cure. Make sure you're not using your administrator account for general stuff, particularly on XP, use Firefox if you don't already, and perhaps drop some hints that you're really not interested in 40 Free Smiley Mouse Cursors. The Billfred technique of intimidating them into treating them nice because word gets out as to who messed the computers up may or may not be particularly effective for you.

Alternatively, burn a Knoppix CD for the next time she comes over, and have her work on that. It'll do the job, and you just eject the CD and reboot when you're done.
