Problem with the Victors

We keep blowing Victors everytime we turn on our robot and use the joysticks. So far we have a box of Victors that have practically exploded when we attempt to drive. Is anyone else having this problem and does anyone know how we could possibly solve it?

Re: Problem with the Victors

I'm guessing you have your Victors connected improperly. Make absolutely sure that the + input is coming from a circuit breaker, the - input is going to a good negative "ground" point, and the M+ and M- pins are going to two sides of the same motor. Check for short circuits between the motor connections.

Re: Problem with the Victors

are there any metal shavings that may have fallen into the victors? this would cause them to short. i would suggest blowing them clean with compressed air and maybe even removing the fans for a more thorough cleaning. hopefully this is the problem and a simple solution.

Re: Problem with the Victors

Ah, they were connected improperly. It turns out that our mechanic re-connected them the wrong way after we got the robot back from Kimberly-Clark. Thanks.

Heh, we have about $600 worth of Victors that we probably can't use now though =/

I suggest u hook them up to a battery and a multi-meter and check, our victors did that once and they work absolutely fine now

Re: Problem with the Victors

My suggestion would be to use a smaller circuit breaker, like a 20 amp instead of a 30 amp, and using a bigger wire size. The rules have the bar minimum wire size, we always try to go one bigger. Good luck, I hope you figure out the problem.

Re: Problem with the Victors

Dana,
You may be able to get them repaired by IFI for less than a replacement. Contact them to help you make a decision.
