The surface material is Glasteel FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Panel) wall panel from Home Depot. It is $30 per 4'x8' sheet. It is smooth on one side and "bumpy" on the other. It is used commercially as a wall board and made to be in wash down areas. We calculated it to be about 0.6 lbs per square foot. Not the lightest material in the world but it is fairly strong and was available locally cheap. It comes in white and we painted it red and blue to match our team colors.
