Scimmages this past weekend

How were the other scimmages besides Winter War Zone go this past weekend?

Red face Re: Scimmages this past weekend

The South Carolina Upstate Scrimmage was held in Greer yesterday. Metal In Motion had a functioning machine, as did 1102 Makin Magic. Team 834 came with a nice base assembly and gave their driver/operator some time driving on the carpet. Team 1319s Golden Strip Robotics team was respectable and gave a nice preview of what is to come with their machine. They were able to score well in the one scrimmage against MiM. From eveyone who attended, it was evident that there was a lot of work to still be done before the upcoming regionals.
Good luck to everyone this year, and for those teams who were invited to attend the warm-up, and couldn't make it, you were sorely missed.

Re: Scimmages this past weekend

We had the full NASA Goddard field set up at McKinley High in Washington DC and about half of the 40 teams expected were able to show. The mid-Atlanta area is still recovering from snow/ice, 3+ of days school closures, so many teams stayed home to try to catch up.

It was great to see all the teams there. I love this pre-ship event "playday" every year, because once you get more than robot on the field, things become clearer where some of the challenges are going to be!
And there are so many tubes!
And they are everywhere-under ramps, under robots, popping everywhere, and some even make it to the rack
And the entire arena broke into applause when that first robot climbed that first robot ramp.

Re: Scimmages this past weekend

On Sunday, Wildstang (team 111) hosted a FRC invitational at their workshop in Shaumburg, IL. It was lots of fun and all the teams there were really nice. Our arm kept breaking, and they gave us parts to fix it with. Unfortunately, someone stole my tablet PC with all my robotics stuff on it, so now I have to redo my team's webpage that I spent weeks creating. Despite that negative event, watching the other robots compete was amazing, and I'm looking forward to working with them at regionals!

Re: Scimmages this past weekend

Team 692 (St. Francis High - Fembots) hosted a scrimmage at their school this past Saturday. We were there with an old '05 bot and our new bot just placing tubes as much as we could. Team 295 (Granite Bay/Oakmont) was there with a FAST ramp bot. We got on them three times which was fun. Team 692 and 1662 (Jim Elliot) each had a robot that could score ringers and played some good defense. Team 1147 (Elk Grove) had a lifter bot and had a cool, small wheeled bot that was all over the place (in a good way!). Here's some vids of the matches...

and

Thanks again to the host - Tema 692 - the Fembots. They're great people and we had a good time meeting up with each other and checking out the cool bots. Can't wait to see all of them again at Davis!!

You won't believe this but someone stole a laptop from our pit at the Aces High UTC Winter War Zone scrimmage.

Rolling Thunder's "Rochester Rally" went over well. It was a great time for teams to fix up their robot for competition. We saw a couple robots get onto ramps and some really good "rack robots". Can't wait until FLR!

Re: Scimmages this past weekend

I went to my first scrimmage at Hawthorne High in Hawthorne, California on Sunday. it was a great experience. It was awesome to see what other teams' and our own team's robot could do. Our robot was the only robot to lift. Thanks to the teams who were brave enough to try, 399 Eagle Robotics and 589 Crescenta Valley High School. You guys rock!
