Re: 2007 Boilermaker Regional!!!

1024... if you've seen, has an elevator mounted manipulator with several degrees of freedom, capable of scoring on all three levels and changing the orientation of the tube within its gripper. It can also remove tubes from the rack. Nice speedy drivetrain too... software's coming along so multi-mode autonomous as well.

Depending on how many helium baloons we can find (or how good we get at carbon fiber n such), one or two full width ramps....

Re: 2007 Boilermaker Regional!!!

At first when I saw the other pics I thought that gripper might have been too large to be any good but with a tube that gripper doesn't look so oversize.
I like the idea of using the wheels on the end of the fingers... shouldn't have to worry much about popping a tube.

Wish you guys were coming to Palmetto Regional in South Carolina... would like to see that gripper in action.

Well Good Luck and Have FUN!

234 is all arm. No ramps here. We may be scoreing tubes till the end in a lot of matches.

I like your reverse engineering in the middle of a thread 829.

Re: 2007 Boilermaker Regional!!!

1023 will be attending, for the first time ever! As you can tell by my signature, we have been performing very well over the years and we hope that this year will be our best! We are really confident about our robot and its abilities, as well as tons of support we have from sponsors, parents, mentors, and students. However, we will see how it goes after GLR.

Our robot can score 5-6+ tubes per match (this was unobstructed practice with ideal conditions). We can also hold 1, quite possibly 2 (depending on design) robots onto our ramps.

well then depending on how things go we may ditch the manipulator and extend the ramps. Those build windows may be fun.

Heh... we definitely got to know those ramps in St. Louis, as we got on them in 6 out of 6 matches in the finals.

Kudos to the Digital Goats! The rest of you have to check out this ingenious design, that 829 has put together. I really didn't understand this cam lifting mechanism until I saw it lift our robot. See you at the Armory!

All through the qualifying matches we never had two robots in our alliance capable of climbing a ramp, even one that was only 18 degrees like ours. I was wondering if our design was ever going to get a chance to be tested in battle. When you and 1444 climbed our ramp in that first quarter final match and our robot wouldn’t move, my heart sank. In the video you can see me looking down at the wheels to see if they were turning (and trying to figure out how to blame the AM transmissions for the failure) when the guy from IFI came over and reset our controller and up she went! I almost jumped out of my shoes I was so happy.

Thanks for finally showing that we weren’t crazy.

Re: 2007 Boilermaker Regional!!!

Hello to all that are attending the Boilermaker. I believe this will be the WOBOT's (Team 141) maiden voyage to the Boilermaker and we are wondering what to expect. Sounds like in years past this has proven to be fun place to be when the robots take stage. Good luck to all and we are looking forward to making new friends! We had a great time at IRI last year and from the looks of the team list many of the same teams will here. Only a couple more days before we pack the bus!

Based on our experience, you can expect a great event. As with all regionals, you'll see great teams and have a lot of fun.

Like IRI, you'll find one of the best group of volunteers anywhere making the event run smoothly. Maybe they just don't let us see them sweat, but they seem to have more fun putting it on than the participants.

Last year the competition was great. With the help of some awesome alliance partners we brought home our first gold in five years! I hope we get a chance to repeat that performance.

I gotta say, last year the Wobots (141) was one of my favorite teams from West Michigan. Looking forward to seeing what you've come up with for this year's competition.
