Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

You know you've overdosed on FIRST when at breakfast this morning you tell your mother that your birthday party has to be rescheduled because it is the same day as Monty Madness.

You know you've overdosed on FIRST when you close your eyes and see robots.

You know you've overdosed on FIRST when you stay up at night contemplating how you are going to defeat MOEzilla and Evil Machine 5.

You know you've overdosed on FIRST when you broke up with your girlfriend over robotics.

You know you've overdosed on FIRST when you're more excited about the NJ regional then you are about anything else.

You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

You think zip ties are the best way to hold everything together, even your relationships.

You hear the phrase, "But it's not heat efficient" in your sleep.

Your biggest upcoming fear after graduating from High school this year is if we are going to have a water game next year when you are mentoring.

All your art projects this year were of the winning championship team's robots last year.

You wake up with a solution to yesterday's problem of how to mount the ramps.

You try to think of a way to be shipped with the robot so you can perform the finishing touches before regionals. (Against the rules so you can't anyway.)

Your future children will be named after robots.

Your build day starts at 4PM, ends and 4AM and starts again at 6AM (Weekends are the best)

You know you've overdosed on FIRST when you go out of your way to draw pictures of the last years robot in your 3-D drawing class, and then claim you are "practicing" for this years build season.

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

when all of these you know off the top of your head:

the slow loop runs at 26.2ms.
the baud rate of the program port is 115200
there's 1024 bytes of EEPROM, addressed 0 to 1023

When in church you see the big chalice and wonder if someone made it on the lathe.

When the hymn you're singing has "Jesus, our victor" and your mind drifts off to a strange cartoon of a Victor speed controller with a yellow circle behind it (in most pictures with Jesus in them, there's a yellow circle behind his head).

When 3 of the bookmarks on your toolbar have something to do with FIRST.

When you honestly feel more at home in the shop than in your own bedroom.

When you get on your computer to do lit homework and fire up MPLAB, IFI loader, TeraTerm, and Windows Explorer in your "07Code" folder before you realize that's not why you're on your computer.

You see a picture of a worm gear in a physics book and tell your friend (for the 20th time) how your robot has a tendency to break teeth off the gear inside its transmissions.

When said friend tells you to shut up.

When said friend tells you to shut up, and when you don't, he says exactly what you were about to say.

...something breaks during school and you immediately say "Can I try to fix it?" (happened to me twice so far once with one of those gum shocker things and once with a stapler)

...you decide to design your clinometer after a very mutilated FIRST symbol

Dan, I'm really sorry to do this to you...
This is my favorite example of being overdosed on FIRST.
The day before regionals (talking about fonts):

Dan: arial
Dan: is as standard as it gets
Dan: without being TImes New Robot
Dan: wow...
Dan: I did not just do that

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

... when you tell a classmate something he said was totally not GP...

... when he gives you a confused look and you say "Oh, it means not doing something your grandma wouldn't approve of...

... when the whole class turns around and looks at you funny, and you have to explain what GP is, in non-FIRSTer terms (with the help of a robotics person in that class)...

... when they turn away, as soon as they realize it's robotics related (or else we'd go on forever)...

...your watch has an alarm that goes off at your team number.

...you are convinced if zipties and ducttape do not fix something, then only through divine intervention will it be fixed.

...you hear the phrase "the red, white & blue" and think of the FIRST logo.

...you cheer at gas stations with your team numbers' price.

...you consider life after FIRST, then instantly dismiss the thought.

When you're sitting in church, and the number for the nursery (the one telling parents which kid needs their attention) says "207," and you think "Let's see, that's Hawthorne's team number..."

Your friends at college want spring break to come soon because they are hoping that once you get to go a regional over break, you will stop talking endlessly about robotics. (They are wrong)
