Re: pic: Team 1574 - Deploying the ramps

How long is your robot from bumper to end of ramp with that thing?

Does it stay within the end zone when opened?

Re: pic: Team 1574 - Deploying the ramps

I'm sure it fits sideways, you don't HAVE to be oriented front to back with the field to unfold. By the looks of it, I'd say its about 11-12 feet long, much more than the 8 feet that would be necessary to fit front to back in the homezone.

Great job on the unfolding, thats quite a few joints for one ramp. Arm looks solid as well.

Re: pic: Team 1574 - Deploying the ramps

Each plate is 3 feet long and we have about a 1.5 feet on the robot, which gives us enough room for 2 robot. The arm will be pointing up, so the entire ramp will be free for robots to climb.

If you were wandering what are the ramps made of, it's special aluminum honeycomb plates that we managed to get. They are very light weight and very strong, perfect for being a ramp.

Better question: will it fit in the pit?

Does it allow for both wide and narrow aspect robots? Our ramps do. They are pretty sweet.

Re: pic: Team 1574 - Deploying the ramps

this design actually looks fairly similar to ours, except ours is longways, is in three solid sections (with the hole in the middle, it just has supports). It also has its feet in the middle rather than on the edges.

Re: pic: Team 1574 - Deploying the ramps

Wow... this picture just leaves me thinking that I really dident think hard enough on a ramp design when i could have thought up something as simple and effective as this is. Nice work.... Good luck at regionals....
