Less Banners Given at Regionals

Can anyone tell me the reasons behind the FIRST decrease in banners given out at regionals this year. In the past regional finalists have always recieved banners and I understand that trophys arnt whats important in FIRST, but I still want something to hang in the pit to show my team's accomplishments.

I don't know because we are a rookie team. Why do they give 2 trophies? Is one not enough?

I don't think finalist banners have been given for awhile... I know 2005 we didn't get finalist banners.

The idea behind 2 trophies is one for your team and one for your sponsors. Correct me if I am wrong.

Award winning teams get two trophies. One for their robotics room, and another for school so they can display it at their school's trophy case.
Of course you can also give one to your main sponsoring corporation if they really helped your team a lot such as: providing Engineers, machine shop, parts, money, etc...

We gave one to our head sponsor, and are keeping the other to be displayed at the school...

I only saw a banner for the Chairman's award this year.

Re: Less Banners Given at Regionals

As far as I know, the only banners FIRST gives you are Chairman's Award, Engineering Inspiration Award, and Regional Winner. At the Championships, they give out Division and Einstein Winner banners, as well as the ones mentioned above. If, however, you want a banner, FIRST has always had the option of ordering one...

Re: Less Banners Given at Regionals

FIRST only gives out banners for winning an event or Chairman's. You can order your own banners for whatever award/reason you want them to, however.

Re: Less Banners Given at Regionals

Finalists have never been given banners. We were finalist in 2002 and 2006 - nada. All teams may purchase banners from FIRST for any of the awards including finalists but they're like $200 each which is a bit pricey for us.

http://www.first4tees.net/FirstBannerSite.htm

Again this was stated in the earlier referred to post but it's nice to be reminded again about this.

Re: Less Banners Given at Regionals

To go along ith what Corey said, they only give 1 banner per winning team also. As long as I have been in FIRST (2000) only the winners & CA winners get banners.

My team has been finalist in the past and I think if you are finalist you can order the banners if you want for a small fee, as well as extra trophys for additional sponsors or schools. Behind the extra ordering there is a small fee tha you have to pay to FIRST

Re: Less Banners Given at Regionals

Other than a probably cost factor only winners received banners and if you wanted one you could order it to give the company here some business.

http://www.first4tees.net/FirstBannerSite.htm

And as stated before you get 2 trophies - 1 for school , 1 for major sponsor.

Before 2000 they never had fancy banners or trophies - alot of the awards were created out of Dean's shop. Just recently we were sent a trophy to make up for the 2 National Chairman's Awards our team won for 1992&1994 in the past the Nat CA winner held the magic Dean-made clock for the year just like the Stanley cup. That was way cool compared to a banner any day. I wished they would have changed their mind and said if any team won a National Chairman's Award 3x they would get their own custom made Dean Clock. I would trade in all the banners for that.
