Thanks. We knew that Alliance #1 was our biggest competition. We we're quite shocked at the outcome of the matches actually. But it just goes to show how a spoiler can dramatically change the outcome of a match. Also, I may be wrong, but I think we had the highest score of 256 points during a eliminations match, although I may be wrong on that one.

I have to say that I think our alliance proved how rank has no real showing. Our team was seeded around 40ish. However, we got selected to be an alliance partner, mainly for our ramps, but we ended up not even using them. I think the key to this game is solid offense performance and critical placement of the spoiler.

Also, I'm interested in the selection of my team. It appeared as if other alliances were hoping to choose us because when 494 chose us (much to our surprise....we had no idea they were interested in our robot) that other alliance captains began to frantically shuffle papers and what not. But maybe it's just my imagination...

Thanks to everyone for their help and congratulations to everyone. GLR was a great regional and I hope Boilermaker can bring on the heat next weekend! Also, maybe we can finally get that regional win and we'll see everyone down in Atlanta this April.

Re: 2007 Great Lakes Regional, Best Ever?

I would like to thank team 494 for picking us, and both them and 1023 for being awesome alliance partners. We really regret that we weren't able to fix our arm in time after it got mangled in the second match of the finals...

Congratulations to teams 573, 503 and 1015 - you guys worked together really well as an alliance, and your combined scoring and ramping power was a sight to behold.

It's not your imagination - you guys were up there on our list, too.

This is inferred from the match results, so it may not be entirely accurate.
The FIRST site has a minor inaccuracy - alliance #5 was 494 - 1503 - 1023.

On behalf of team 1015 I would also like to thank teams 573 and 503, this was our most exciting year ever!

I only hope we can scrounge up the money to be able to go to championships, it would be our first year there.

IMO - with over $6M cash or equivalent on hand, FIRST can afford to award Championship entry free to Regional winners.

Re: 2007 Great Lakes Regional, Best Ever?

What an amazing Great Lakes Regional! It truly lived up to its name as an exciting event.

First, from Team 67, thanks to Team 1114 and 57 for making an amazing alliance. This was the only time (and it happened several times, in fact) that I have seen two keepers hung by the same alliance during autonomous. What a rush!

Then congratulations to 503, 573, and 1015 in their victory. What a great job. And especially after the two partners fell off of 503 in the quarter finals.

And Frogs...The double again (did it last year at West Michigan). Winning the competition and the Regional Chairman's. Great Job!!! Clink-Clink. Good luck in Atlanta as a Chairman's challenger.

Again, Great Lakes did not let us down. It was a great event to watch and be part of.

Talking Re: 2007 Great Lakes Regional, Best Ever?

As a former member and current mentor of 503, I'd also like to extend my thanks to 573 and 1015 for forming an amazing alliance. We had some scary moments, but we pulled through all right !

Walking by Team 67 and hearing them call out "We love our Froggy Friends!" brought a HUGE smile to my face . As far as we've come these past few years, we still look up to The HOT Team as a shining example of FIRST success.

I would also like to point out that Team 280 TNT is possibly the classiest group of students and mentors I've ever had the pleasure of running into. Every time we've gone down to the field during awards ceremony (all 4 years I've been at Great Lakes), TNT 280 has lined up to give us high fives. You are really a wonderful group.

"Is that a Frog?!" Wow. Team TnT 280 feels very honored to hear such a lovely compliment! One year we were told not to do it. Did we listen? No! We love all FIRST teams too much let them go uncongradulated personally. And we'll continue to give you guys high-fives for outstanding work.

On a related note, TnT attends GLR for the reason that we find this one of the toughest regionals in the US. The atmosphere and competition keeps us coming! This year we feel was one of our best years spirited-wise. We may have lost the regional this year, but we had a blast competing! Love to all of you!

Re: 2007 Great Lakes Regional, Best Ever?

1189 had a rough regional and didn't show up on the field until Q45... whoops.
We wouldn't have made it if it was for help from a few other teams. We'd like to send a huge thanks out to:

1114 - for showing us how to flash our controller
65 & JVN - for controller troubleshooting help
65 - for 6WD programmming help
1015 - Wiring help
326 - Wire Covers
1188 - Loan of a programming laptop for troubleshooting ours
469 - Packaging materials

And a big thanks to all the well wishers that were pulling for us. It was an 'exciting' and frustrating event for us, but it was a success thanks to all of you, we are indebted.

Re: 2007 Great Lakes Regional, Best Ever?

Yes, I would have to say it was the best ever GLR, winning the Championship and the Chairman’ Award.

On behalf of team 503 I would like to thank team 573 for choosing us as there alliance along with team 1015 and congratulate both teams for creating one team to win the championship.

To are opposing alliance in the finals, teams 494, 1503 and 1023 you guys were awesome!

I also would like to thank team 67, because of your gracious professionalism, high stand of excellence and because you’re HOT, we have grown from tadpoles into Frog Force.

Also to all the teams that competed in the GLR you’re all winners in my book!

Re: 2007 Great Lakes Regional, Best Ever?

On behalf of team 503 FROG FROCE I would personally like to first thanks 573 for picking us into the #2 alliance and 1015. Those memories and new friends that we made will never be forgotten. Secondly would I thank all the teams for congratulating us on our GLR Championship win and Chairman's award, I am still amazed that we made it that far, I just drive the robot the same way I drive my truck!

I would say that the referring at this event was done very well throughout the entire competition, they made the same calls no matter who was on the field or what match it was. The ruling of a tube supporting the lifting robot or the robot being lifted changed the winner a couple times, but it was always called and once on us, then we adjusted.

I would like to thank all the teams that came and participated at events, with out all the teams out there with the passion for FIRST, the GLR event wouldn’t be the same. Making a shout out to the HOT team and the Martians, we love you guys. See you soon Martians (70,494) at the Buckeye event, hopefully this time together as an alliance not against each other.

See you all soon

Re: 2007 Great Lakes Regional, Best Ever?

The correct picking order for #8 was 1504, 548, 65

To the Robostangs: Thanks for letting us climb you that many times. When we first got that 60 with you in qualifiers, we knew we liked you. Additionally, thanks for the muffins (Contraband! haha). Last but not least, thanks for being accomodating in our road to trying for the wins.

To the Huskies: Amazing scorer. I honestly don't know how you were still around for picking. Thank goodness for the serpentine draft. Our atrategy was excellent, its just so hard to beat a #1 alliance, especially when the top two ringer scoring teams are on that alliance.

Grats to the winners.
Patton, we'll be ready for you to climb us in Atlanta if we're in the same division. I promise.
