Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

-Words such as "Trout" and "Flaperon" make teammates double over in laughter for no real reason.
-You know the best place for a hammock at your sponsor's warehouse.
-You know that your robot is underweight by "53 cents, a pair of sunglasses, and a small leatherman"
-Pool tubes make a very good bed.
-Pool tubes make a very good straitjacket.
-Pool tubes make a very good jack for the robot.
-Pool tubes make a very good frisbees durring break.
-Pool tubes make a very good...anything really.
-Bolts, wire ties, toggles, and even tools show up in your pockets weeks after the build season.
-Wire ties have reached a legendary status, equivalent to that of Duct Tape.
-You don't know what to do with this thing called "free time"
-In order to fill this "free time" you have taken an old robot home to keep working on it.
-Apparently there is this thing called "homework?"

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

playing Wii with a new friend from Merrimack (hi Tiff!), playing that darts game where you have 301 points, and you have to knock it down to 0.

we compared every score at the end of a round and determined if it was a first team, and what team it was (i got a 151 my first round. Tiff hit 166 the next)

...When you wake up early on a two-hour delay because you mistakenly thought it was time to leave for your regional.
...When the only thing that'll get you out of bed at ALL is a dream about robotics.
...When you pack a week before your first regional.

* You put on safety goggles every time you walk into your kitchen
* You give team buttons to random people on the street
* You think of a Segway as "that other thing Dean Kamen did..."
* Every time you hear the word flowers, you start looking for Woodie

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

...you have shortcuts on your desktop for IFI loader, C:\FIRST, MPLAB, DeviceReader, and the custom VB app you wrote to talk to the 'bot.
...your laptop's wireless manager automatically connects to Sundial Network when you come into a regional--the profile's already been set up.
...you have 59 (!) zip files with different versions of the code in a backups folder.
...you have 12 Mini-DV tapes on your desk; 10 of them have FIRST video on them.
...you type something into Google for a homework project, end up on a homemade segway page, then start researching motor controllers, then finally give in entirely and post yet another post on this thread...

You enjoy spending 12hours between the pits and driving
You find out that this thing called "homework" is quite challenging
You start designeng new base driving strategy and concepts in calculus

- You know that Loctite tastes like candy.
- When your teammates ask you for "the wrench," you know that they are referring to the 7/16" open wrench.
- You always carry keystock, calipers, and a USB drive full of CAD files in your purse.
- You can rattle off the category hierarchy for most common McMaster parts.
- You have a folder labeled "pr0n" that's full of pictures of robot drivetrains.
- You think you have dandruff, but it's just aluminum dust.
- You get really irritated when people ask you if you do Battlebots.
- When you don't have scissors around, the bandsaw works just fine.

When your primary concern between regionals is not catching up on homework, but catching up on sleep.

When, despite the above concern, you're posting on CD past midnight...
