Re: Soviet Russia
In my country, Andy Baker raises the bar.
Hmm, I wonder if Yoda had anything to do with the development of Russian Reversal |

EDIT: I was just thinking about the how we could emphasize this is a game and not meant to be offensive. Maybe we could have a mod change the title to "In Soviet Russia..." and move it to the forum games? Last edited by Graham Donaldson : 14-03-2007 at 17:14. |

Re: Soviet Russia
In Soviet Russia, Idea likes YOU!!
I like this idea. It is definitely a fun game, as long as you don't have the intention of poking fun at anyone. I agree with the mod suggestions. Jacob |

Re: Soviet Russia
This year for our Spring musical, we were forced into doing Disney's High School Musical, and all the songs are annoying, and are really starting to get to a bunch of us on night crew. so one day when i was expressing my hatred of the musical my friend said
"In soviet Russia, you still hate High School Musical!" Just a funny reversal of the Russian reversal. |

In Soviet Russia, battery is limited by your internal resistance.
Also, way too many people do not get the joke. |

Re: Soviet Russia
These jokes are only funny when the reversal actually makes sense rather than just random switching of subjects and objects. By this I mean, in both sentences, the subject could potentially do whatever it is the verb describes to the object (usually "you"). The best ones change the meaning of either the subject or the verb.
Good example: In California, they say you can always find a party. In Soviet Russia, party finds you. This is funny because it's possible for you to find a party, by searching for a group of people who are dancing and having a good time while it's also possible for a party to find you, when the party is actually a group of corrupt government officials who are looking to squash dissent. Bad example: In Soviet Russia, pencil write with you. This sentence is not funny because no definition of the word pencil allows it to write with a person. I simply chose a random sentence, and reversed the subjects and objects with no thoughts about the meaning of the new sentence. With this cleared up, I now expect the quality of jokes in this thread to improve ten-fold. |
