Re: 2007 Chesapeake Regional - Discussion
congrats to the 293, 75 and 203
That being said, had our robot hit the ramp all of 1.5 inches to more left we would have been on for another 30pts and victorious in the 1 vs 8 third match. Instead we fell over and lost by two. O well, stuff happens. Well played regional every one ![]() |

Re: 2007 Chesapeake Regional - Discussion
Congrats to the winners, and thanks to everyone who helped make this regional as amazing as we've come to expect it to be. Despite some not so great weather and a near epidemic of teams getting sick (poor Buzz had half their members missing today, including a driver).
Thanks to 836 for picking us and to 204 for playing defense. If it hadn't been for those radio issues in the quarters, who knows how far we could have gone? I also want to add my congratulations to team 1727 for winning the Chairman's Award. They are a truely impressive and inspirational team. I wonder how many other second year teams can say they've won a Chairman's Award. It was well deserved. Good luck to all who are representing the regional in Atlanta, and I hope to see you all back next year at Chesapeake! |

Re: 2007 Chesapeake Regional - Discussion
I'm proud of my alliance, Teams 869, 888, 2199, the number 8th seeded alliance overall, and didn't have anyone orginially seeded under 12th. We beat the number 1 alliance in the first round, then lost to them in the second match 54-32 because 888 went to far up our ramps, and bumped the wall, and fell back down. And then in heartbreaking format we lost in match 3 in a score of 32-30 because 2199 accidentally lined up wrong and over shot the end of the ramp, thus falling off. If they had made it we would've beaten then 60-32, unfortunately we did, and Overall alliance number 1 was about to win it all. Fast fact - we were the only team to beat 293 all competition, had the closest matches all playoffs with 293 + 75, and ended up jumping from 53rd to 4th.
I would like to thank 888 and 2199 on working so well, and doing so wonderfully with us, and congratulate Spike and his teammates on their victory, and all the other winners of the day. |

Re: 2007 Chesapeake Regional - Discussion
The Chesapeake Regional was an exciting robotics competition and overall fun experience as a volunteer. I am definitely going to return next year and help out again because of all the cool people that I met.
Thanks to “Momma” Troy and all the other team queuing volunteers that help with directing teams to the field. It was great working with all of you. The Pit Divas for helping us get the teams out there on time. To teams 1629 and 75 and all the other teams that were willing to help Team 204 out. Thanks tremulously. I would like to mention a big shout out to Team 836, the RoboBees and Team 1629,GaCo for letting us join your alliance in the elimination rounds. If it wasn’t for electrical issues with the robots, who knows how far we would have come out in the elimination rounds. Both of our alliance partners were simply amazing on and off the field. Thanks again for letting us join your alliance. |

Greetings from the Robo-Lions. We thought the robot was going to be OK but it proved to be a lot more sturdy and reliable than we knew.
Our drive team (Nick^2) were both Freshmen and just kept getting better as the competition wore on. Even though many thought we made some strange picks for the 8th seed it turned out just fine. 888 has been our mentor this year and we were relying on their experience and their ability to score to get us through. And who could resist Powercord's big 2-robot porch. It deployed reliably every time and was a real threat. Congratulations to 293, 75, and 203 on their victory. They were all well designed and well driven robots and deserved their success. We'll be back next year, a little older, a little wiser, and "roaring" to go!!! Hope to see everyone at Chessie next year. --Mark (2199 mentor) ![]() |

Re: 2007 Chesapeake Regional - Discussion
To the three alliances that versed us, you guys put up a tough fight. As such, every team made the competition fun, exciting, and (in the end) nerve racking. Thank you Teams 293 and 203 for being a great alliance.
To those who attended our Team Social, it was fun meeting you all. All in all, I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. And I look forward to Atlanta! |

Re: 2007 Chesapeake Regional - Discussion
We had a lot of media at the event this year. We will try to get links on the Chesapeake website within the next week.
The Washington Times got it mostly right! http://www.washtimes.com/metro/20070...3745-6492r.htm |

Re: 2007 Chesapeake Regional - Discussion
I disagree on one statement:
Even though you can "qualify" based on Engineering Inspiration Awards, Regional victories/finalists, Rookie awards, and Chairman's; you can go even if you don't "qualify". You just are not on the highest priority. I would tell the people who wrote the article and Team HAVOC this: Even though those slots are open for those winners, many winners and such already pre-register for the championship. Unless there's a dog and bone approach going on (get the bone of free championship for winning), there are always lots of spots available after regionals (because of this). |

Re: 2007 Chesapeake Regional - Discussion
I am still in shock that we won the Chairman's award! This is technically my first year on the team(I was like a team little sister last year), and I had never imagined that we could have won. Now, our team can go to Atlanta(we were wait-listed previously).
In my opinion, the Chesapeake regional was much better than the Trenton regional. The teams seemed more friendly and close to one another, and everyone cheered for each other. I'm also very proud that many teams from BAA (Baltimore Area Alliance) won numerous awards. The BAA seems to join teams closer together. Congratulations to all of the teams in the finals, and to the Jersey alliance for winning the Chesapeake Regional! |

Re: 2007 Chesapeake Regional - Discussion
Team 768 thanks Susan Sloan and the Regional Committee (you all know who you are
) for hosting a wonderful regional. Despite the bad weather and so many people falling ill, you managed to pull off a great event. I hope all the teams had as much fun as we did.Our team had so much fun meeting new friends, greeting old friends, playing with everyone and we were thrilled to get into semi-final play. Congrats to teams 293, 75, and 203 for your super win. Kudos to our Baltimore friends for their awesome achievements, we are so proud of everyone. We look forward to seeing everyone in Atlanta next month! Robyn |

First of all, congratulations to the "Jersey Alliance" who won (75, 293, 203), as well as to 1727 for winning the Chairman's award. Congrats as well to 1749 for making it to the finals in only their second year with FIRST. And to all BAA teams there, congratulations for doing such a great job.
As for us, Team 007, we had a rather difficult time. Despite not having scored a single point either Friday or Saturday, we still managed to end up in 29th out of 58 teams. We suffered moderate damage to our actuator as well as our drive system in consecutive matches, but somehow, we ended up being the 8th robot in the "Bullpen." Despite our troubles, the 12 members there, as well as our mentors, and those parents who decided to come and support us, all had a great time. This event will be a valuable experience to next year's team, and the years following. As for me, personally, well, I'll save that for some other time. :þ |
