Boilermaker Regional - Thanks to So Many!

Thanks to everyone who made the Boilermaker Regional 2007 an awesome event -

To the planning committee - Amy, Greg and everyone - an excellent event with lots of special activities for students. Well run, Well done, Great communications. Fantastic job.

To all the teams - what an exciting event with lots of great matches. It was great to see some familiar faces, and also to meet some new teams. How about Puerto Rico! Awesome to have you in Indiana!

Thanks to all the volunteers who made things work. It was great to see so many college students there helpping out - giving up spring break to be there. Especially kudos to Ryan and Collin for taking the lead on the mic's - great job.

Thanks to Team Driven and Pulse for an excellent alliance! We played toether in the last regular match and it was a great "fit" - so cool that we could get back together for the Championship. Thanks to 1023 - 1747 - 461 for making us work for it - awesome matches and talented play.

Thanks to the judge crew for the awards and for their dedication and hard work. There job is a tough one.

Thanks to Team Cyber Blue for a great event. What a fantastic team to be a part of.

Lastly, thanks to the Planning Committee for my selection as Volunteer of the Year. Totally unexpected and truly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Boilermaker Regional - Thanks to So Many!

A big second to everything Chris said, and a big congrats to him and 234 on the awesome weekend they had.

The planning committee and great group of volunteers made every thing seam so effortless and smooth, another great Boilermaker regional.

This might have been the best refereed regional I have ever attended.

And a big thanks to our friend and alliance partners from Puerto Rico. Have a great weekend in Dayton and kick some butt in Cleveland.

Re: Boilermaker Regional - Thanks to So Many!

Congratulation to the BMR planning committee! Indiana is a great place for a regional and the BMR planning committee as well as IndianaFIRST have proven that!! The addition of the "Purdue Mini Special" on stage in the Elliott Hall of Music was a great addition!!

I couldn't wait to hear "Hail Purdue"!!

It was a great event and I am already looking forward to 2008! Warren Robotics #829 WILL be back!!

Congrats again to 234 Cyber Blue for winning the Chairman's Award and 135 Phm/Powerlift for winning the Engineering Inspiration Award.

See you next year!

Go Boilers!!

Re: Boilermaker Regional - Thanks to So Many!

This year's Boilermaker Regional was nothing short of spectacular. Thank you to all the students, mentors, parents, etc. who came to it and allowed us to even have a competition at all. You all clearly strive for greatness and it showed from the fierce competition on Friday and Saturday. I feel honored to have been able to be the MC at my home regional and my school.

Congratulations to the Purdue teams, your success this season will no doubt continue at Atlanta.

But the biggest thing this weekend for me was seeing my former high school team 234 do so well. It's incredible to see your former team still improving, still growing after you have left it. It's only been two years now, but clearly you all have pushed it to an even higher level. Best of luck to all of you at Long Island and then Atlanta.

All of the Indiana teams - quite a showing this weekend. Keep it up!

Again, thank you to all the teams who came to Boilermaker, and we hope to have every single one of you back again next year.

Re: Boilermaker Regional - Thanks to So Many!

Hm, well where do I begin....

The planning committee that I work with is just plain awesome. There would be no event without these people - Greg, Brant, Carolyn, Erica, Jim, Mary, Flo, Jason, Stephanie, Andy, David K, David B, Shannon, Jerry, Cynthia. Being that almost all of them are or have been on teams makes a significant difference in the result of our regional. From the VIP and Educators program, to the tours, scholarships and opportunities for attendees, to the team social, volunteer recruitment, and media overage, and all the other behind the scenes tasks - there are no thanks enough to them. The committee spends half the year planning for this event, and I'm proud to see it executed without any major hitches.

Our Sponsors (NASA, PU, Schlumberger, Delphi, INSGC, Rolls-Royce, GM, and all our concession and equipment provisions) - for supporting our event and making it all possible... Purdue for providing the facilities on campus, from the Armory, to Elliott Hall for awards, machine shop, and all the places teams got to tour.

Mark Koors, Jerry Budd - working the field and any issues that arose, which I understand to be almost none.

Our young, fabulous MC/Announcer duo - Ryan Dognaux and Colin Fultz. Great job keeping the excitement up and audience pumped!

All the volunteers - The 100+ volunteers we have are among the most friendly and willing people I've met. They come from all over to be a part of such an exciting event, and they are part of what makes that happen.
Purdue FIRST programs students were awesome. Everywhere I looked they were there, doing their jobs, helping with any little or bit thing that was needed, and it was amazing. They were there over their spring break. Brant and Leanne for leading that group of people and making sure everything that needed to be done, was done.

The teams - wow! What exciting competition! The atmosphere, the cheering, the ENERGY that takes place in the Armory is because of you! We had teams from everywhere this year and I hope you all continue to choose this event.

Congratulations to all the competing teams, regional winners, finalists, award winners, and scholarship winners. You all truly deserve it and we wish you continued success!

Thanks to everyone and see ya next year!!

Re: Boilermaker Regional - Thanks to So Many!

Speaking for myself and for 931 Perpetual Chaos, the 2007 Boilermaker regional was everything that a great FRC event should be. Excitement, passion, inspiration, and fierce competition -- all nicely wrapped in a classic venue on the campus of one of the world's great engineering schools, and executed with meticulous attention to the details.

I personally had a great time helping with field set-up and robot inspection on Wednesday and Thursday. Thanks again to Mark Koors and Jerry Budd for making the FMS do exactly what it was supposed to do, on schedule and with no problems. And to Andy Baker for allowing me to work with and observe his top-notch crew of robot inspectors. I'll be borrowing a few of your methods to use in St. Louis next year.

Thanks also to the entire Boilermaker Regional Planning Committee, and especially to Jim and Mary Stuart. After our own home event, this one is now right at the top of our list for a return trip.

And congratulations to all of the teams that participated, especially our alliance partners, the never-say-die 1189 Gearheads and the wicked-awesome 166 Chop Shop. We look forward to seeing you again at Boilermaker, and you'd be welcomed any time in St. Louis.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

On behalf of Cyber Blue 234, A huge thanks goes out to our outstanding alliance partners 1730 and 1555. Both of your teams were very professional, enthusiastic, and well prepared. It was an honor to play with you.

I'd also like to thank the planning committee for putting on a great event and all of the teams for making this a very fun and inspiring event.

Re: Boilermaker Regional - Thanks to So Many!

I wanted to thanks Amy P for providing us all the logistic information we need from load in to load out and parking do's and don'ts. I clearly see that Boilermaker goes above and beyond letting the teams know what to do and provide a very helpful website...I only wish it was that clear going to Atlanta...but I am starting to see the light thanks to everyone on CD posting tips. Thank you Boilermaker planning committee and Amy P for all the update e-mails!
