It got lodged underneath as they came up on us, it had no effect on the robots ability to stay on or not

That may be, but did you guys recieve points for being up? being supported by a gamepiece and what not. The refs at our regionals made it clear to us that if a tube is in contact with a bottom surface of a robot on a ramp, that robot won't count for bonus points (being supported by a game piece). Also that if a tube is in contact with a bottom surface of the ramp bot that none of the ramped bots would count for bonus points.

Re: Team 869's Ramps in Action

Sweet system. What's the angle on the ramp there? I've noticed a ton of teams made their ramps way too steep, so our bot has issues climbing them...

No, we didn't recieve points, but there was no rule qualification because we were going to argue, but we won the match, 34-28 so there was no point.

Re: Team 869's Ramps in Action

the ramps are at a 22 degree, but the noticeable radius in the ramp causes it to be much less than that, basically anyone with about 1 1/2 inch clearance could mount us.

Re: Team 869's Ramps in Action

nice looking design were also a rampbot (not as cool as yours just a springloaded mechanism) our ramp is 19 degrees it doesnt take much ground clearence but i am amazed to see the amount of teams with almost no clearance in a game where climbing a ramp may be an important strategy. Also do you have any added traction we coated ours with an epoxy paint with sand mixed in it works amazing even with stock wheels. This is important cuz ive seen alot of ramps that people just slipped off.

Re: Team 869's Ramps in Action

We were able to epoxy stripes of grip tape on, not using the tape's adhesive of course. We had a little bit of time, so we were able to make an arrow design to help the drivers out a bit.

At Monty Madness, we made a grip tape stop at the back of our ramps to try to prevent robots from drivng off the back.
