Going with teams that I've played against, 75 sticks out first in my mind. They were just fast

Re: 2007 best tube scorers

I would have to nominate 1038 at being a good offensive robot. One of the main reasons for this was it could score on the top row of the rack during autonomous, which was something that not many teams can do currently. They were fast and accurate when scoring and could play so descent defense when needed in order to get to the rack.

Thanks Travis! We have been pretty successful, but I need to nominate 1126, Sparx, as one of the elite (No pun intended, Travis) hangers based on thier performance at Buckeye. These guys are awesome, they have a great process to acquire the tubes, which is very forgiving, and they can put 'em wherever they want quickly. Trust me, you want these guys on your side!

Re: 2007 best tube scorers

Just read through the whole thread. I am going to go a little off-topic then I will get back on the topic. It gets annoying when you see people post back and forth in a thread challenging one another to come to certain regional and compete. It's okay to have pride, but let us stay on the topic. I may be guilty of this also, but I try to stay away from it. Take it to PMs or IMs if you are going to derail a topic.

Now, back to topic... this is the year when I have seen the most competitive robots ever in FIRST. My view on the game totally changed today, when I watched the Boston and Waterloo elimination rounds. Here are some teams that I think scores the best out there.

1) 148
2) 1114
3) 1626
4) 2056
5) 217
6) 175
7) 79
8) 1902
9) 25
10) 233
11) 111
12) 1251
13) 854
14) 330
15) 121

... I won't be surprised if I see some of these teams on Einstein in three weeks. Also, keep in mind, I didn't see every single robot in the nation. I may have missed a very good scorer out there.

I'm glad to see this team finally getting recognition this year (including their 2nd seed finish and finalist trophy today). Every year they make an excellent robot but they usually just walk away with technical awards. I know most of you probably haven't heard of team 854, but if you get the chance, find a video of one of their matches in Waterloo and you'll see why they were a powerhouse. Some of the best driving of an omnidirectional robot I have ever seen!!

Re: 2007 best tube scorers

When left alone 56, 121, 237, 1369, and 1902 are lethal, but each suffers greatly when defense enters the picture. 1114 is, by far, the most dangerous tube scoring team when defended. It has taken mechanical or electrical failures (or a tube to the flag) to hold them up, and even when that happens, they can still deploy their ramp. 25, 148, 343, and 1251 can each scored through defense pretty well also.

Re: 2007 best tube scorers

I'd add 114 and 254 to the list of teams that can score while under heavy defense, and 100 to the list that struggles. Because of their slightlty tip-prone drive train, they have an aissue with defense. The poofs, and Eagle Strike (114) can both score under pretty heavy defense.

Thanks for the mention. Since we score with the tube completely horizontal, we have an easier time dealing with defense because we can score with essentially any angled approach to the rack, where as teams that score vertically have to be directly in front of the rack to place a ringer. Even with that said, I am slightly disappointed at how defense heavy this game is turning out. Of the few matches that our arm has been out of commission and we were forced to play defense, I don't think I've ever let an opponent score a ringer. This could just be because of the quality of the scorer bot, but it still bugs me how easy it is to keep the rack empty

Anyways, I am very very impressed with 1114's robot this year. The design is extremely unique and effective, and they put ringers on like mad, even with heavy defense on them. I was amazed while watching TBA archives of Waterloo at how many ringers they managed to put on both the middle and bottom levels, and they would still come back to deploy their ramp. Can they score on the top level though? I see the four bar being used for the middle, bottom as well as ground, but do they have a way of reaching the top? I never saw them attempt to in the matches I saw of them. Also, their autonomous, very consistent. Great job 1114!

Re: 2007 best tube scorers

We all know how good 1114 is, but two other teams caught my eye this weekend at Waterloo; 2056 and 854.

2056: think of 1902's bot in the 4' limit, their 4 bar linkage is beautiful and can easily put up 6-7 ringers in a match. These guys are the best rookies I have seen since 1503, its no coincidence they come from the Niagara FIRST family. Their only weakness is that they can get bullied, but their drivers are no rookies (having past experience in off-season events).

854: Their omni system is fluid and the drivers use it to its fullest abilities (which is rare for omni systems). The have a great pickup position which makes it easy for them to pick up, they have a great scoring motion on their arm, and a great release point. Then on top of that they have great ramps that are easy to get up on.

Watch out for these two bots at GTR they are going to put on a show with the rest of the great scorers.

1626 when left alone was quite impressive at boston

121 obviously we know these folks know how to build a bot

126 did an amazing job of picking up tubes...they were "wicked fast"

I'd say these 3 were the best scorers at boston

Re: 2007 best tube scorers

i would have to say 1038 not only because of their great auton with that top row but also because they averaged 5 tubes a match according to our data!! that is 1 and a half tubes ahead of us at the same competition!!(we were the second tube scorer by the data)
