Re: 2007 Buckeye Regional Videos

Travis - Thanks for the links, the only thing better would have been a little more footage on the right side of the field... As I have said numerous times, you guys absolutely rocked when it counted in Cleveland; that siad, I would love to see a rematch with a mobile 1528. We have proven in regional finals twice this year that it is tough to win when only two of your alliances robots are mobile during the match... Maybe we can get a full strength alliance for Einstien, you may even be invited to join!

Believe me, I'd have rather seen this too. The question is, would they have tried to keep us away from you, or would they have gone over to harass 291?

1528's dilemma poses an interesting question. Before the finals began, we knew they were hobbled and were prepared to push them outside of the home zone if necessary. We decided it would be more interesting for 379 and 48 to take on your remaining scorers. If their ramps were folded when we pushed them outside of the home zone, I'd see no reason for penalty, but if they deployed them while we pushed them out, I wonder how this fits into the "you can't cause an opposing team to break a rule" area of the rules?

Hmmm... Let's see, if you pushed them out it would have cost us 60 to 70 points, depending on if the ramps were deployed or not. That equals roughly 6 ringers. For arguments sake, since we are theorizing, do you think our alliance could have linked 6 ringers if you were tied up and not playing D? Maybe not, but, to add to the theory, do you think we would let you get home unscathed if our ramps were proven useless? Without both partners on your ramps, you lose... An interesing dillema, Travis...

Back to reality, it was an awesome challenge for us to try to beat you guys without a defensive robot. I noticed your post earlier about your theory that the ultimate alliance is 2 defensive bots with one offensive capable hanger - I thought that in Pitt, but I am rapidly morphing into one who is a believer in two strong hangers with one defensive ramp... Let's see what works in Atlanta. Good luck to you guys next weekend, I look forward to seeing you in Atlanta - where we will all see what works best!
