2007 Buckeye Regional Videos

Koko, Ellery, etc. are working hard to get all the Buckeye Regional matches digitized for your viewing pleasure, but in the meantime, here are some links to selected elimination round videos, including QF1, SF1, and the finals, shot by one of our alumni using my DV cam. Much of the video is centered on 48's robot, but hopefully it gives you an idea of what went down in C-town. And if you get motion sickness watching these, you can blame CD user "A Reed". LOL, thanks Adam.

I enjoyed the action in the semifinals most of all.

I'll update links as the videos are processed online....

Re: 2007 Buckeye Regional Videos

People need to tell me when Dave does regionals so I can go there. Now I really wish I went with 174.

He didn't do Aim High at buckeye and I can't remember but I don't think he was there for Triple Play. He might have been.

Yup, Dave Verbrugge was there in all his headstanding glory. What a treat to experience one of the best veteran MC's in FIRST one week and then see one of the best youngins in action the next - Karthik at GTR.

Re: 2007 Buckeye Regional Videos

Those videos took me back a bit and experienced that all over again. Although I did get a bit sea sick at times when watching. Also the bonus material made it all the more exciting though did not provide the scale of volume noise that we were making in the gym, I seriously though that police were going to be coming by at any time. Nonetheless great videos capture the true reactions of what a team is going through during the playoffs.

Thank you for the videos, it's great to be able to see the matches a second, and a third (and so on) time.

Thats the problem with life, if you miss something important, you cannot replay.
So thank you for providing the replays :3

Re: 2007 Buckeye Regional Videos

Travis - Thanks for the links, the only thing better would have been a little more footage on the right side of the field... As I have said numerous times, you guys absolutely rocked when it counted in Cleveland; that siad, I would love to see a rematch with a mobile 1528. We have proven in regional finals twice this year that it is tough to win when only two of your alliances robots are mobile during the match... Maybe we can get a full strength alliance for Einstien, you may even be invited to join!

Believe me, I'd have rather seen this too. The question is, would they have tried to keep us away from you, or would they have gone over to harass 291?

1528's dilemma poses an interesting question. Before the finals began, we knew they were hobbled and were prepared to push them outside of the home zone if necessary. We decided it would be more interesting for 379 and 48 to take on your remaining scorers. If their ramps were folded when we pushed them outside of the home zone, I'd see no reason for penalty, but if they deployed them while we pushed them out, I wonder how this fits into the "you can't cause an opposing team to break a rule" area of the rules?

Hmmm... Let's see, if you pushed them out it would have cost us 60 to 70 points, depending on if the ramps were deployed or not. That equals roughly 6 ringers. For arguments sake, since we are theorizing, do you think our alliance could have linked 6 ringers if you were tied up and not playing D? Maybe not, but, to add to the theory, do you think we would let you get home unscathed if our ramps were proven useless? Without both partners on your ramps, you lose... An interesing dillema, Travis...

Back to reality, it was an awesome challenge for us to try to beat you guys without a defensive robot. I noticed your post earlier about your theory that the ultimate alliance is 2 defensive bots with one offensive capable hanger - I thought that in Pitt, but I am rapidly morphing into one who is a believer in two strong hangers with one defensive ramp... Let's see what works in Atlanta. Good luck to you guys next weekend, I look forward to seeing you in Atlanta - where we will all see what works best!
