Re: 2007 Championship Divisions
The Juggernauts are not an original team, despite having the #1 team number. They just happened to have the lowest alpha-numeric primary sponsor when team numbers were made permanent in 1998

Re: 2007 Championship Divisions
1683 was left off of your list. Found a few new teams as well. That means currently both my teams are in the same division (oh thank heavens!!!!)

Re: 2007 Championship Divisions
Based on this years god aweful alliance algorithem, I wouldn't put it past them to divide the total number of teams into 4 groups based on their team number - this way they can assure a rookie alliance makes it to the finals

Re: 2007 Championship Divisions
Wow... good job thinking in terms of FIRST.
With that list, there would be veterans vs. mid-veterans vs. mid-rookies vs. rookies. Or something like that... lol. |

Ed, you're missing 1218 and 2180. I must have missed 494 and 457. Either way, 291 teams are listed....both of our lists there have 289.

Re: 2007 Championship Divisions

This ABCD system has not been around that long. In 2003, we were clustered into groups, 4 sequential numbers to Curie, 4 to Newton, etc. (we were in the same division as team 47 that year) I'd like to see FIRST do something different this year while placing us in to these 4 divisions. It would be cool to see this... On NASA TV, one week before the event, Dean and Woodie spend 30-40 minutes drawing team numbers out of a hat. Woodie: "OK, Dean, these next 10 are going to Newton: (reads off 10 numbers)" Dean: "I'll give you 10 that are going to Archimedes..." After the Dean and Woodie show, we could have live commentary on FIRSTCast. Just an idea. AB |

Re: 2007 Championship Divisions
Andy -
I love it - as usual you have come up with another fantastic idea. If they could do it like the March Madness bracket show it would be great. Dean - Now in the Curie Regional we have team ... Back to you Woody for the Galileo regional final four spots. Out of a hat, one of those baskets, or even lottery style pop up ping pong balls with each teams # on it. Just as long as it mixes things up a bit. Mike |

I tried to think of something FIRST related to draw numbers out of... but I failed. But great idea, Andy. It's just unfortunate it won't happen that way.
