Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...
-When you and all your team mates are wearing the team t-shirt and gold metal the Monday after you win your regional. Other students give you weird looks, think you are a nerd. Yet in your mind, you know that you, and not the jocks or skaters, are the future of the world.
-When you as a senior, is crying at home not because your team had a bad year. No, your team had just won two regionals and is headed towards national in one week. But because your last season on the team is coming to an end. -When you have so much adrenaline from a bad call against your alliance team during the previous quarter-final match that your freshly smashed finger that is dripping with blood feels just a little warm. -When all your A’s drops to F’s because you’ve been living at school for the 6 weeks of build season. -When the only reason that you don’t want to move out of your little town and on to college is the feeling of emptiness when you think about life without robotics. -When your friends stop calling your cell phone from January to February because they know exactly where you’ll be. -When you think that the EXIT sign is green so that robots can get out during a fire. -When your school’s robotics team does better than your football team, which took state. -When you are driving home from a regional and see a car dealership with cars displaying on platforms and comments that the ramp to the platforms is too steep. |

You know your overdosed on FIRST when you see your team number as the amount of people currently on a forum and it makes you smile (that just happened to me).

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...
675 members wore their shirts and medals (or most of us did, anyways, who went to Davis), but everybody knew what it was for. That's what you get for going to a school with about 250 students and no other sports teams. =D
You know you're overdosed on FIRST when you want a copy of the last 5 years' rulebooks so that you have some "light reading" on your flight to Atlanta. |

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...
Your school basically bans every website and you personally go to the IT and get him to unblock ChiefDelphi and then spend your class time pouring over the threads because its the only website that works
You keep imagining people in team shirts that you know but you blink and realize that the shirt has no numbers on it and get depressed. Your friends are sick off you bursting out in class "awww I miss them!!!" because you always talk about your FIRST friends. |

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...
You know where you have six pairs of safety glasses(1 in my marching band locker, 1 in my school locker, 1 in my bookbag, one in my mom's car, 1 in my dad's car, and 1 on my bedroom shelf) and still are disappointed over losing the seventh pair.

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...
When you have a pair of safety glasses in each purse you own (all eight of them) and two in your car
When you spend so much time in the schools front office working on your teams marketing/business plan your schools director asks you if you live in the schools front office. When your teachers asked you to write all the things you've done in the past for your team on a sheet of paper and normally people only wrote down two sentences and you wrote three pages listing everything you've done for the team |

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...
When you hoard all the good safety glasses(7 iat school, 5 in my backpack, 6 at home)
When you help a fellow FIRSTer writ his English paper about FIRST. When SLFF becomes more important then Fantasy Football. When you talk about robotics constantly on Facebook with members of other teams. When a quote from those talks ends up in your CD signature. |

When your plan of talking to tons of FIRST people on FB to get other non FIRST people interested actually works (+6 new members). When, once again, something you've said ended up in Joseph's signature (He takes that stuff seriously) |

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...
...when you brought a cake to the robotics meeting before your regional and it said "Happy Birthday" on it but you didn't care that it was your sweet sixteen - you just wanted an excuse to treat the team
...when you would rather spend time with your significant other working on the robot than going out on a date ...when you say a ten hour bus ride to St. Louis and back without working air conditioning or heat and being sick as a dog was "THE BEST TIME OF MY LIFE!!!!" ...when your friends outside of robotics have stopped talking to you because you can only talk about robotics and you really don't mind ...when you realize you never fit in anywhere until you joined the team ...when you realize you spend more time in the wood/metal shop than at your own home and talk to your teammates and mentors more than you talk to your own family ...when you think the team is going to kill you, but you realize it probably saved you ...when you eat junk food for half a year yet manage to lose four jean sizes ...when you replay every moment since you've joined the team and find yourself in tears ...when you realize that when you graduate, you won't cry because you'll miss your friends or your teachers - you'll cry because you'll miss being on the team ...when you stop calling the people on your team "friends" and start calling them "extended family" ...when you only go to school because there's robotics that day ...when you stop explaining "sportsmanship" to kids and call it "Coopertition" and "Gracious Professionalism" instead ...when you're convinced every moment from the time your team won that finals match at your regional has been a dream ...when you hate physical contact but you cry and hug your whole team when they win said regional ...when you realize the robotics has made you a worse student but a better person There are so many more, but this is my initial list. |
