West Coast Post-Season Scrimmage

Does anyone know of any scrimmages or competitions being hosted on the West Coast after the Championships?

If not, hopefully Santa Barbara could host one.

Correct--last year, WRRF put on Cal Games in San Jose, at Pioneer High School to be exact. I imagine details on that will be coming in the not-too-far-off future. (Hey, they got me hooked.)

Ya. I'm def interested as well. Our competition season officially ended but 4 days ago and theres already a hole in my heart where FIRST used to be. It would be killer to get back out there for another competition or two

The CALgames is up in NorCal, or up in San Jose. Since you're down in Santa Barbara, I don't know of any down there. If you want help on hosting one, I can give you a bunch of emails of the people who do CALgames. I'm sure they'd be glad to give you advice.

There's the Fall Classic (usually somewhere in the San Fernando Valley). There's been talk of another, but I don't know a) if it'll work out or b) assuming it does, when/where it would be. Unless Battle at the Border returns (San Diego), I'd go with the Classic.

By mid-October school has already started, and we're an all senior team. This would at least give next year's team good experience with FIRST. Can you guys give me the details and contact information if/when it's available?

Re: West Coast Post-Season Scrimmage

In the past, the "Battle at the Border" was held at Madison High School (home of Team 1266, "Devil Duckies"). The event included a "lock-in" at the school with video games, music, etc. overnight on Friday and a competition on Saturday. Last year, there was a last minute cancellation of the event, which was planned for the weekend of May 19.

Perhaps will hear from Team San Diego whether the "Battle at the Border" or another off-season event is in the works for this spring...

We will definetly be having the battle at the border scrimage at madison this year( the Devil Duckies 1266 demand it). Last year's cancelation was due to the lack of teams. There was a lot of teams who decided they could not make it so we had to cancel at the last minute. This year we are hoping enough teams will come to make the competition worth while. If anyone is looking for something to do during the off season, The Battle at the border should be something to look at. Our mentor Mr. Acker wants this event to take place simply because its fun and it gives drivers a chance to get a little bit more time on the sticks for next year.

Re: West Coast Post-Season Scrimmage

CalGames will be held in the Bay Area in October. The announcement is here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=55506

There are several arguments for not holding it in the spring or summer. People are burned out after the build and FIRST competition season. A lot of teams go on hiatus in the summer. Many teams use the fall to get new members up to speed before FIRST kicks off. It also gives teams who are so inclined plenty of time to repair and/or enhance their robots.

For either of these events, please let me and 1717 know if you need any help administrating or anything like that.
