Left behind??? A scary story...

So, we get this call today from a lady at last weeks regional location, asking if we forgot our crate, cuz it's still at Grand Valley! (site of last weeks Western Michigan Regional).

Of course, we think she's joking (belated April Fools day joke or something) - BUT, NO she isn't.

In fact there are 3 more crates still there, and they aren't as well marked as ours was.

Apparently, the shipping company left it behind and forgot ours needed to get to Atlanta or something - who knows?

Thanks to the lady, whom was our saving grace and took care of getting Chief Delphi on a truck to Atlanta - so we should have something to play rack & roll with - but what a scary thought if she hadn't notified us.

Mind you, we did everything right (labeling, paperwork, ect) BUT, accidents do occur once in a while - so if you played in the last weeks regionals and you have a tracking number (check it out - in case you are one of the 3 crates left behind).

See you all at Atlanta - with our bot (i hope)

That would be horrible to arrive at Atlanta just to find that your robot never made it. s:

It would be--but then you have the pit announcers announce that you left your robot behind, and everyone else will arrange to get you parts. It's happened. A team arrived without a robot. They called around and found out that it was sitting on their school's front lawn. Thursday afternoon, they had a robot. It wasn't exactly pretty, but it did the job.

Re: Left behind??? A scary story...

That would be a rather scary situation, but as the one above me has said...FIRSTers work together when needed, and we can do amazing things...like help a team build a robot in less than a day cause their real one NEVER made it to the championship.

It's the great thing about FIRST ^_^ We're willing to work together and help each other out.

Re: Left behind??? A scary story...

When we went down to Brazil in May 2005 a few of the Brazilian robots didn't make it because they got stuck going through customs. Luckily ours and team 75's made it there ok, and we were able to compete with the teams whose robots had made it home. The trip back was a different story though. It took until late July to get our robot back through customs!
