Re: Calling all Hams--Amateur Radio Operators

If the Atlanta repeater is IRLP can I connect to that from my windows computer like i could with Echolink? If I could do that I would listen even if I didn't/couldn't talk.

Most IRLP nodes support streaming web audio, check out the website for the club running the repeater. In order to talk you'll need to have your radio on a repeater that's equipped with IRLP, then each unit has its own special activation code, for ours we just dial the node number in on the radios keypad. Ours periodically plays an automated message explaining how to use the IRLP system.

Re: Calling all Hams--Amateur Radio Operators

If anyone from Ontario happens to know of a good ham radio course/club that actually teaches the course well feel free to let me know or post, I really should learn this and get my license but I found out the hard way once that you really have to know you're stuff, there are 100 questions on the exam out of a pool of 600 and as I found out once the hard way....you have no idea which questions you're going to get, so rather than just learn enough to barely pass the exam and get the license I wouldn't mind learning it properly if there was a reputable course being taught somewhere.

I am also in Canwarn which is our equivalent of skywarn so the license would be rather useful for severe weather suff.

thanks,

Mark
