Re: Curie 2007 Robot Pictures and Basic Data

We've got some updated Buckeye and GTR vids on The Blue Alliance, and hopefully soon some Pittsburgh video.

The green arrow next to a match indicates you can click to download. The filmstrip icon means you can click and view online.

TBA Buckeye Videos
TBA Greater Toronto Videos

Some of the vid/audio on the Buckeye elimination vids is a bit dicey, but at least it provides an alternate perspective of the action relative to the stuff I posted on YouTube and Google Video. Many Curie teams can be found on the videos linked in the above pages.

Here is one vid I wanted to add to the list of vids the other, infinitely cooler Team 48 Travis mentioned in his previous post. The following is the match Koko Ed referred to in the Buckeye Regional thread:

Cool another 8 wheel drive bot on the Curie field. I had only seen 1 other this year besides us.

It's not quite how it sounds. We have one wheel in each of the four corners and then we have two wheels on each side position right next to each other. I don't have a good picture of it but it would look something like this

I was wondering where the 7th and 8th wheels were... You guys were great at WMR (I don't remember GLR much because we were finishing our robot)...

I also know one of your mentors/parents...he taught me control systems when I was getting my EE degree at LTU...

I love your robot...

You guys didn't exactly do to bad yourselves. I'm looking forward to seeing you perform at Atlanta. We were basically doing the same thing you were at Yipsi. Sometimes I wonder if we don't treat Yipsi as three days of practice matches.

Which mentor are you referring to?

Re: Curie 2007 Robot Pictures and Basic Data

Team: 527, The red dragons

4' -> 119.97 lbs + 15 lbs for bumpers

Drive
* 4x CIM (2 per side) with andymark gearboxes
* 6WD with 12" pneumatic wheels, 5" ground clearance with bumpers
* Can climb a 30-degree ramp.

Arm
* Powered by a minibike CIM with a custom gearbox, ABSOLUTELY no backdrive.
* Arm rotates up from a pivot in the back and extends out, gripper on the front grabs tubes, tube cannot be knocked out. The gripper also pushes tubes onto the spider, rather then just place them.
* scores: middle(preferred), bottom, top
* SPBLI: Scored 2-3 Tubes while being double teamed, 3-4 while only defended by 1 robot. and max we scored was 7 (6 ringers, 1 spoiler)

We have a verry powerful arm (just look at the motor ), we score consistently and can drive up most ramps. Our drive train is powerful and fast(I'm the driver, trust me it's quick). We can pick up tubes from the floor, the wall, or over the top of the driver station VIA human players.

http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5194808

- I think it's kinda funny that there are 2 teams in curie that are named the red dragons =D

Re: Curie 2007 Robot Pictures and Basic Data

Team: 1510 Westview Wildcats
Robot name: Red K.I.S.S.

Arm: we have a two joint arm. Pots on both top and bottom arm. Can reach every height in ideal situations but has a strength of middle and bottom. Can pick up from ground (faster than Portland if you saw us there, we made modifications), and can also do human loading (over the wall)

Autonomous: Currently working at 100% after 5-7 tries. Hopefully Thursday we'll get a better idea if it still works as efficiently (I'm thinking yes). Uses camera tracking and pot values to align arm and robot successfully

Ramp: No ramp, but can climb up to 30 degrees (tested wise). Tested on the 30 degree ramp from last year and it was successful. Due to alliance randomization we didn't have much chance to do it in a match because of failure to deploy, ramp coming back to late, or not having a ramp at all. I look forward to climbing some ramps in Curie

We have high speeds, but can't push very well. Using the 12:1 banebot gearbox provided in the kits. Six wheel drive. We choose to avoid more than to have a pushing fest since pushing just (imho) wastes too much time. We were having problems with tubes in our wheels (as well as other robots) but we'll be placing bumpers (plastic covers) on our wheels on thursday to prevent that from happening any more...

I'm a little afraid of saying that our robot is working fine and autonomous is great, because as you all know, unexpected things happen and i don't want to look cocky <_<. This is the info on the robot as of Sunday in San Diego, and if the robot isn't working as i've said, well then i'm sorry.

Can't wait to see you guys all there. Two days eh? (tomorrow for uncrating)

I'm so very excited
