Re: Potomac Vex League (PVL) Events

PVL folks,

See my post above to see a recap of Friday AND Thursday results. I have been editing yesterday's post to insert today's results into it. I have now reached the 10000 character limit in that one, and consequently I will use this post to track the Vexy Things progress if they get drafted into the finals.

With their 3-1-0 record, and their ability to score mass-quantities of balls worthy of a Conehead skit; I am optimistic they will be in an alliance.

3013 Gears of War 2-2-0 Qual Rank = 44
3065 Holy Rollers 1-3-0 Qual Rank = 82
3148 Fight Club 2-2-0 Qual Rank = 45

But Hey! Don't put your tools away yet!
The Potomac Vex League off-season is just beginning.....
We all need to learn how to do something that stumped us or seemed out of our reach during this season (I have a long list).
We all need to try unusual, risky, or just plain fun designs in low-pressure just-for-fun scrimmages.
We all need to contribute to and attend workshops where we share, teach and learn. A rising tide floats all boats....
We all need to recruit at least one new team member.
We all need to inspire more teams to form and support them through their rookie year(s). This year we finished with 559. Next year, let's have at least 1000!

Janet Lathn, Terri Wiseman and I look forward to seeing you at the Stonewall Middle School, Lockheed Martin and Potomac Vex League's Roboticon Hangin'-A-Round scrimmage April 21st. I especially want to hear some stories about the experience of going to the World Championships from you who got to attend!
We aren't done yet. FVC is just getting started!

G. Blake Ross
Co-Chair of the PVL

Re: Potomac Vex League (PVL) Events

Folks,

Just a quick reminder...

Like all other times we have used the PVL H-A-R field that Luke and I built; this Saturday I don't expect to put down the tape (the octagon and the other lines) that you would see in the open parts of a 100% official field.

If anyone is planning to use a robot that needs that tape for line following (or any other mysterious reason), contact me and we can see what we can do to give you what you need.

Also the field tiles are Red, Blue and Yellow or Green, not the uniform gray recommended for a 100% official field.

Blake

Re: Potomac Vex League (PVL) Events

Roboticon Plaques Update: Mrs. Wiseman has gotten the engraved plates made for us (Big Thank You to her!). I now need to mail them to you so that you can affix them to the wooden plaques you received the day of the event.

I also want to mail DVDs/CDs of pictures and video in the same packages.

My goal is getting them to your schools/mentors/coaches before the end of the school year.

Blake
PS: Next season is looking good. We may have enough young teams to be able to form a Middle School league (I'm thinking of a 4-tournament season with about a dozen robots in each event); and continue to have events open to all comers (similar to this last season).

Next season we need to come up with a scheme for determining an multi-event league winner (maybe a NASCAR-style point system?).

Re: Potomac Vex League (PVL) Events

Folks,

The 2007-2008 PVL Schedule has been announced! There are many more events planned for this year than last.

There are two new Potomac Vex League threads started for the 2007-2008 FTC season.

The CD thread is here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...729#post643729
Right now it only contains a pointer to the associated thread in the VexLabs Forum.

The VexLabs Forum thread is here: http://www.vexforum.com/showthread.php?t=1675
It contains the new 2007-2008 PVL schedule.
