[FVC]: Good Job FVC Atlanta Winners

I know this should probably go into the congratulations and thanks section of the forums, but many FVC teams do not read that section of the forums. Thats why I chose to place this here.

http://www.usfirst.org/community/fvc...t.aspx?id=4378
is the link to the winners in Atlanta.

I'd just like to say that team 3053 Occam's Engineers did an awsome job with the inspire award and winning alliance. Props to them and hope to see you guys in Penn and Atlanta next year.

Great job to 1114 simbotics for their second world champion FVC win in a row. Awsome robot, and awsome team, you guys definitely deserved a win. See you in the Ontario Science Center next year =D

Good job EMP 3230 from San Diego. After watching you guys on youTube and live, you always seem to impress me.

Also, good job to the think award winners team 2052 (SMART Lions) from Singapore. We had the honor of playing with 2052 three times (due to crystal errors) and we greatly enjoyed our experience with them. If you haven't seen their documentary on youTube yet, I suggest you check it out.

Also, awsome job to 3047 Tenacious Technicians for their connect award, 3399 Hammered Steel for their amaze award and Team 3626 Einstein's Daughters for their innovate award.

Finally, I felt the runner up alliance fought well and played hard (not just because our team was on it =D). The runner up alliance fought hard from being seeded 7th and managed to defeat the extremely tough 2nd and 3rd seed, finally falling short on defeating the champions. Thank you team 3050 Jaws for selecting us to join your alliance even though we were ranked 96th with a (0-4) record. I hope we contributed our share onto the alliance.

Good job to every FVC Atlanta team, and remember, Atlanta teams were the best of the best in the world, so there is no shame in not being the small percentage of teams that got an award. There are so many teams I believe deserved recognition, but FIRST would need a truck to carry so many trophies.

Re: [FVC]: Good Job FVC Atlanta Winners

I would also like to congratulate all the winners. For a couple of days I have been repeating myself to those who ask if I am disappointed about our loss in the semi-finals (we lost to Occam, Simbotics, & EMP). This is what I have been saying... When you lose a heartbreaker, you tend to regret it alot. You run through all the "what if's" over and over again. In this case, there was no heartbreak or "what if's". We got beat by a superior alliance that deserved to win. Any one of you could have carried your own alliance, and when put together you were unstoppable.

I am not disappointed in the least. I am happy we got selected to play and my team got everything working well in the eliminations. We got a chance to finally sow how well we can play. Congratualtions to all the winners, and we'll see you all next year!!!

Congratulations to all the FVC teams.

Although the robots may be only 18 inches square, the amount of passion, talent, and ingenuity that the teams demonstrated is by no means constrained by any size resitrction.

I hope to see everyone again next year!

Re: [FVC]: Good Job FVC Atlanta Winners

Now I remember why I enjoy working DaVinci.

Congratulations, 1114. Unless there's something in the FLL record books that I missed, I believe this makes them only the second team to win a second FIRST world title (and back-to-back, too), after a certain team about 800 km away. If you've looked down on FVC as a lesser competition, look around for a video of the DaVinci finals for either Hangin'-A-Round or Half-Pipe Hustle. These folks set the bar, if you ask me, when it comes to what is actually possible in FVC.

Further congratulations to 3053 for all of their accomplishments--#1 seed, Champion, Inspire Award, and I believe they went undefeated to boot. FVC is still a young competition, but these folks have set the bar high.

A tip of the hat to all the kids and teams who kept their cool, even when things were a little screwy with the field. We did everything we could to keep things moving smoothly, but you know how things can go sometimes.

An apology to all those who I had to move out of the way to make room for the Atlas ball as teams realized the importance of chucking it out.

Thanks for all of the teams who came with something memorable, either on the robot or off. Bonus points for the new teams without FRC ties--I'm remembering the Suburban Legends, Einstein's Daughters, The Rising Tide, S.H.I.R.T., Occam's Engineers, Vexy Things, and that's without so much as glancing at the team list. (That's not to take away from the pilot teams or those which did have FRC ties--but to plant those sorts of seeds in their first time at the dance is definitely laudable.)

And finally, thanks to all of the 99 teams who competed at the World Championship Event. It was a heck of a time, definitely worth dressing up in less-than-stylish apparel for.

Thanks so much to all the judges, refs, and volunteers!

I had an absolutely amazing time. This was unfortunately my first and last year (as I'm a senior), but I plan on coming back sometime soon as a volunteer!

Re: [FVC]: Good Job FVC Atlanta Winners

We felt privileged to have seen so many excellent designs and rub shoulders with the FVC "greats". There were so many incredible teams, some of whom didn't carry home trophies. Congrats to the winners, especially 3053 for your awesome example.

I wholeheartedly agree. While I've never cared for "everyone's a winner" feel-good self-esteem, it occurred to me that of the 10,000+ students at the dome (FRC, FVC, FLL, JFLL), if one were to ask, "How many could find a place in the science or technology professions upon graduation?" the answer is "All of them!" -- there really is a place for all of us. In contrast, at a convention of 10,000 football players or musicians, I think 10% would be an extremely optimistic estimate. Need MOAR STEMs!

I've already got you down on my list to help in Connecticut next year!

Actually, the plea goes out to all of you - if you live close enough to an FVC event that you can travel to it but are not participating in it, please consider volunteering at it! Volunteering is a blast and you get to meet lots of great people.

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to get to every pit to meet all of the teams who were in Atlanta, but I was so impressed with the teams I did get a chance to talk with! I've come back all energized and excited about recruiting new teams!
